Terrorists who tried to kill Sonu, arrested
Terrorists who tried to assassinate singer Sonu Nigam, while he was performing at a concert in Karachi, have been apprehended.
Talking to an Indian daily, Sonu confirmed, "Yes, we received a call from the Governor's House in Karachi. They called my father and informed him that some of the terrorists who had planted a bomb at the venue of my show in Karachi, have been arrested, and some of them have been killed."
Nigam added, "The blast took place on April 10, 2004. I remember we were supposed to leave Karachi in the morning, on April 11. However, the state government was embarrassed about the attack and apologized to us. I guess, to make up for our trauma, they declared us as state guests for a day and we were invited to the Governor's House for tea. I was especially terrified at that time because my entire family — my father Agam Kumar Nigam, mother Shubha Nigam, sister Nikita Nigam and wife Madhurima — were with me. Singer Sowmya Rao was also with me, since she was performing in the show. Since the government were really embarrassed by the blast then and very sympathetic to us, I think they considered it their duty to inform us about the arrests now."
In the Pakistani newspaper, Daily Times, Capital City Police Officer Niaz Ahmed Siddiqui confirmed that these militants were members of the group Jundullah.
