Hi friends,
The heartthrob of the small-screen, Rajeev Khandelwal, is all set to make a debut in films with UTV's Aamir being directed by Rajkumar Gupta. The actor is all set to make a place for himself amongst the Bollywood biggies. "There is no fun without risks. I want to grow up in life and want to experience everything or else I would have never joined Bollywood. Destiny has brought me here today. I wasn't feeling good in television and I hope that it doesn't take me back to the repetitive daily soaps. I want to achieve something new," says Rajiv. About Aamir, he says that the film is a fast-paced thriller and a commercial potboiler. "I play a middle-class doctor who lives with his parents. He has returned from the US and gets entangled in a murder case," reveals Rajeev. Unknown to many, Rajeev is also a documentary filmmaker, who has made several docudramas on the Indian Army, the life of the aged, and women's labour in the country. "I started my career in television as a production assistant. Soon, I began writing and directing documentary films. Till date, I have written about 30 documentaries on various subjects. Documentaries that I penned and directed were on issues like old age, women's labour and the Indian Army, among many others. I have a special fascination for the Indian Army. After the Kargil war, I was keen on making something that would showcase the army and hence made one documentary on the subject. Most of the films I made were aired on Doordarshan and were of 30 minutes duration. I did not produce all of them, though. I've done it all — I've slept in a small office room, driven a second hand car and also lost a lot of money in my pilot episodes," he shares. The actor did theatre before going headlong into films. "I did that purely because I wanted to know what they have learnt that I haven't. I thought acting was done purely through the heart, but I slowly learnt that there was more to it than that. Here I learnt how to let go of myself and confess and accept a lot of things," says Rajeev. |
