why isnt sridevi given padmashri?

Even Rekha has not got Padmashri. Both Sridevi and Rekha deserved Padma if it is really given for contribution to Indian cinema rather than for how good one is at PR. Sridevi's contribution to the Indian Cinema as a whole is unparallel, noone comes close. You have watched her in Lamhe, Sadma and if not better she is equally good in Tamil movies like Varumaiyin Niram Sivappu, Meendum Kokila, 16 Vauanthililae or Telugu movie like Kshna Kshanam or Malyalam like Devaragam.

Very sad state of affairs indeed.

Sridevi should have received the award.

She and Kamal Hassan were THE magical pair. Her performance in Sadma will be one of the best in the history of cinema.

i think even the national level awards given by govt r getting spoit now.awards r something like a family business.

it is also the dream role of many actors and actresses and i bet no one can do it that well. the best part was sridevi was neck to neck in the movie with an actor like kamal hasan and that too when she was only a new heroine.😍

^^^ she was not new yaar sridevi acted when she was three yrs and then she did hundreds of movies as child artist down south along with kamalhassan so when they wer doing sadma they were like brother and sister ,kamal himself told this that he used to annoy sreedevi and boss around her coz he knew her for so long.

working as a child artist and working as a lead role in a movie r totally diff. and i thought being 1 movie old is considered new. only. i think she is a total package. good in all things and a true super star.yash choopra never used to repeat his heroines but he did for sridevi. i am a die hard fan of sridevi and i know most things about her. thats cute being like brother and sister.

Kamal Hassan and Sridevi were very close friends and they shared a beautiful relationship off-screen.

It's nice that till this day, Kamal Hassan still speaks with alot of respect and admiration for her.

Sadma was and will always be a magical film.

^^^ i agree with you.i cried so much watching the movie when i was just 3 LOL,i kept aksing my mum all night whenwill they get together ,why did she not recognise him LOLS.
