Aamir Khan: Childhood revisited during TZP

Aamir's, first directorial venture, TAARE ZAMEEN PAR, is being touted as the fitting finale to the year 2007. The reason is obvious. TZP marks the return of actor par excellence, Aamir Khan, after a gap of almost one and a half years. The movie has in its arsenal a script (the most important parameter for the choosy actor), so strong and moving that it convinced Aamir to take over the reigns of direction from the creative director and writer, Amol Gupte.
As is well known, the movie centers around the world of a dyslexic child, the problems faced by the parents of such children and calls for their sensitive handling. But that is not what we are here to tell you.
As our headline suggests, the movie made Aamir Khan nostalgic about his school days. It was like revisiting his childhood. The actor, who enjoys the enviable reputation of patronizing good cinema, honestly admits that he was not a champion at studies. He adds that he was a naughty and mischievous child, who like a normal kid, enjoyed the pleasures of passing and the agony of failing, simultaneously. And that was the deciding factor which convinced Aamir to wield the megaphone and make a film about a subject which deals with talented but misunderstood kids.
The film, which has the fans of 'intellectually good' and meaningful cinema excited, will release on 21st December, along with Akshay Kumar's commercial laugh riot, WELCOME.
