Amrita Rao has apparently turned down a role opposite Ranbir Kapoor as she didn't want to kiss on-screen.
A source says that Amrita had been approached to play a role in Yash Raj's next which stars Ranbir and other Bollywood leading ladies but Rao decided to back down over the lip lock.
"Ranbir had been signed on by Yash Raj for his second film. The film sees Ranbir romancing four heroines of which one was to be Amrita. They spoke to her and she was very keen to do it till she heard that she had to kiss Ranbir on screen. She wasn't comfortable with it and backed down from the project," says our source.
The film is said to be directed by Siddharth Raj Anand and has Ranbir Kapoor as the male lead. The buzz suggests that he will be sharing screen space with leading actresses – Bipasha Basu, Preity Zinta and Katrina Kaif.
"With Amrita saying no Siddharth is now on the look out for another actress to replace her. And frankly speaking that shouldn't be a problem!" laughs the source.
Ranbir made his much publicized debut in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Saawariya. But even before the first rushes of the film could be seen filmmakers were beating down Kapoor's home wanting to sign him.
"Aditya Chopra made it clear that he liked Ranbir and saw potential in him. He wanted to sign him right away and no one really says no to Yash Raj and especially when you are a newcomer. Ranbir agreed and he really liked the idea that he would be the only male lead in the film," says the source.
With one of the biggest Bollywood banners backing him coupled with four hot leading ladies it looks like Ranbir would have hoped that his debut film would have been this rosy!
