That is what happened. Vivek went with Rani to Kolkatta when latter's cousin met a tragic death. Aishwarya Rai was shooting in Kolkatta at that time after breaking off with Salman. Instead of being with his "close friend" Rani, Vivek went ahead and offered his shoulders to Ash😆.

Poor Vivek. Na Ash mila na Rani. Na mila films like Hum Tum!! Tch Tch!! 😆 😆
