What's keeping you busy?
I went on a holiday after attending a film festival in Norway. Back home I've been busy with my dubbing for Bhool Bhulaiya and my costume trials for Kunal Kohli's film.
Is signing a Yash Raj film like a second coming for you?
But I hadn't gone anywhere. I've worked like a maniac, learning on the job. Now, I know the kind of films I want to do. I'd rather sit at home than do something that offends my sensibilities. Signing a Yash Raj film is a feather in my cap.
Was it difficult to handle the low phase in your career?
Honestly, I'm happy that I went through the downs after the ups.
At this point does it get difficult to reject a film?
No.. till February next year I'm committed to Kunal Kohli's film.
Is there any film you regret rejecting?
Tere Naam. I refused it because I had no dates at the time. I love the songs of the film. I wish those songs were associated with me.
Was your education looked down upon when you started out here?
Yes. Many felt that I was arrogant and had a chip on my shoulder because I was from South Mumbai and loved reading books instead of gossiping. Trust me, education helps you lead a more disciplined life.
Also it gives you a sense of security. You are secure with the knowledge that with a degree in your hand you have something to fall back on.
Do you have any female friends in the industry?
I don't think two actresses from the same generation can be friends. When you are vying for the same role and competing with one another you cannot be friends. I'd never give up a role for anyone. But two actresses from different generations can be friends. Madhuri (Dixit) and I got along really well.
How do you react when your male colleagues flirt with you?
I take that with a pinch of salt. Every girl likes to be told that she's attractive or that there is something appealing about them.
Recently in his column Vikram Bhatt had very funny things to say about you...
(Laughs) That was really funny. Before writing it, Vikram asked me for my permission.. I enjoy a good joke even if it is at my expense. Vikram's column has got amazing reactions, he has the ability to reach out to people and touch them. His column has touched a chord with the readers.
Any marriage plans?
None. Right now both Vikram and I are obsessive about our careers. I'm not mentally ready to settle down. I still feel I'm only 12 years old.
