As for Sonbir..whole movie was on their shoulder..they did decent job for that! Sonam , i believe had the most complicated charecter which would have been hard to portray by even senion actresses like Rani!

I agree deepika is not the entire reason why OSO is a success but she did her job brilliantly. I just find it unfair when people say that she was decent and on the other side Sonam was a "perfectionist", even though Ive seen them both and Sonam wasnt that great either, keeping in mind that Im not saying that she was bad either.😊

Maya,you cannot deny that having the right contacts is of tremendous advantage...Even to break into modelling,one needs contacts....There are loads of girls who aspire to be models,it is not easy for all of them.....Deepika had everything to be a model/Hindi film actress,but so would many other faceless and nameless girls,who never reach anywhere because of the lack of support from family and friends,lack of exposure etc.....

Star kids are noticed by the film-makers thanks to their lineage...Deepika was fortunate to be NOTICED for her beauty,because there are many good looking girls who go unnoticed because they aren't spotted at the right parties or they don't get to meet the right people....Some girls like Sushmita Sen are lucky to be spotted at random parties,some like Ameesha are fortunate to have contacts in the film industry,even if their parents aren't directly involved with Bollywood.....

A phenomenal debut doesn't a great actor make....Both Deepika and Sonam have shown some promise(Deepika being the only good thing about an otherwise nonsensical and rubbish OSO,Sonam performing reasonably well despite being saddled with a half-baked ,poorly written role)...STar-kids might have an easy debut,but they are under enormous scrutiny,and the media is a damn sight harsher on them...If Ranbir Kapoor had mucked up in Saawariya,the flak he would have garnered would have been much more than what a Shiney Ahuja would have recieved...With lineage comes the additional burden to carry forward the legacy,a tall order!

Joie de vivre, Deepika was spotted at school because of her beauty and was approached. Her dad came into the picture later. 😊 As for rest of the post, please go through all my posts. I have exactly said the same thing for both the actors. In this thread as well as another one with a blogger's article.

Maya,do you really think modelling agencies go to all the hi-fi schools of Bangalore and look for models??...Or do all Carmellites end up being models??....Because if you believe so,then you're labouring under a misapprehension....

She was spotted WHEN she was still in school,she was not spotted AT school....She was spotted at various events she used to attend with her family...She was a Page 3 socialite in the Bangalore party circle even before she became a model and has loads of family friends and well-wishers who encouraged and aided her in her modelling pursuit.....

I have mates in Bangalore who went to school and college with her,and who were in the same friends' circle at parties and who hobnobbed at The Bangalore Club etcetera,I think I know what I'm talking about 😊....If I'm wrong,then those people who told me these things were incorrect,and I don't see why they should lie,because all of them are Deepika's hugest fans,and they tell me how wonderful she was when at college,how she was already touted to be a HUGE star and how down to earth and laidback she was whilst at college....Her parents insisted that she complete school and junior college,because she was egged on by people to join modelling even when she was only 14 or 15.....She was a born star

True every big star has had some kind of a starting point. I just watched OSO and am impressed with Deepika. Sonam was pretty good too!

Now with regards to the video. Hmmm...now Yea Deepika has done a Kannada movie before...but still she is a debuting in Bollywood just as Sonam. So I feel Sonam crossed the line by ruling out Deepika's contention as a newcomer. Why the insecurity of sharing a newcomer spot? How does it really matter?

Anyways Deepika on the hand looked like she was put on a spot with that question and her answer was actually not bad. Since Sonam started it...I side with Deepika.
