I have not watched Chhalia, but after reading this - feel like watching it soon... The songs of Chhalia are gr8 anyways....

Based on what I read, I think - though the 2 storylines are different, but the original inspiration of both the movies is indeed 'White nights'.. Chhalia seems to have developed a different story keeping the initial idea from the short-story... Nutan is a lovely actress... am sure, she was great in Chhalia too

No dear. Quoting doesn't annoy me. But there are some who quotes with a certain agenda and they certainly annoy me. I apologize for the earlier confusion.

About Chhalia,

Actually at that time Chhalia was compared to Ramayan. Nutan enacting Seeta who was abandoned by her husband (Rehman) because of hearsay (Pran).

But there are some similarities as in the ending, both protagonists remain loner. Even the names Chhalia and Saawariya are used for Lord Krishna.

thanks....i think i will watch it soon...i havent seen much of raj's kapoor's movie as a lead hero...ive seen his productions tho...will try to watch this one tho...

There is 'Teesri Kasam' which is a favorite of mine. It has the song 'duniya banane wale'.. I prefer his B/W films because in my opinion, in his color productions his vision was diluted with too much vulgarity.

Not a problem 😊

I think the similarity is in the fact that both these guys are happy go lucky kind of guys who want to make others happy and want them to fight their sorrows.. in the process, both of them get emotional abt the leading lady, and yet both of them finally concede the lady to the guys they were committed too... and still continue to remain the way they were.... Interesting thought there abt both the names used for Krishna... That is one flavor even SLB has said that has inspired him to paint his dream city all blue.. the color of Krishna - Saawariya
