Arjun Rampal feels that is because people are afraid of him. Here, he talks about wife Mehr & comparisons with the Beckhams
He might not have set the BO on fire but Arjun Rampal's film kitty is full. "I have just finished two films, Om Shanti Om and The Last Lear . I am very excited as well as worried about OSO... it is a huge venture. The Last Lear , meanwhile, was an interesting experiment. Delivering your dialogues was a bit weird and I, Amit ji and Preity used to pull each other's leg and say, 'How Indian do we sound'. I am playing a filmmaker in the movie."
But why is Arjun so low-key that we never hear about him? "I haven't heard a rumour about me in a long time. I guess they are all scared of me," he smiles. Well, then how will he explain Dia Mirza saying she doesn't mind being linked to him? "Dia is a sweetheart. She knows that it's not going to happen and that is why she was saying this," he answers.
After that somewhat strange explanation, Arjun is ready to move on to other topics. And what is his take on people comparing him and wife Mehr to David and Posh Beckham? "I would love to have David's bank balance. And thank you very much, I like Mehr as she is... much more real than Victoria Beckham."
So, will we see him on the ramp at the fashion week? "Oh no, I am done with modelling. And I don't miss the ramp at all. In fact when I met Rohit Bal in Turkey, I told him I am not walking the ramp at all now, no matter what. I don't enjoy walking the ramp as I used to.
Earlier, it was different; the fashion industry was young and booming. It is just a boring job now."
Is that why we see models jumping the ship and taking up acting so frequently these days? "Yes, they are taking up modelling as a shortcut to Bollywood, which is very sad. This way they don't give their 100 per cent to either modelling or Bollywood. They lack the dedication and passion required for the job," Arjun says.
From work to fun, when Arjun is not working, what hobby does he follow? "I recently tried water skiing and fell on my face many times," he laughs.
