Real gems for Jodhaa Akbar Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai shall be seen sporting real jewellery for Ashutosh Gowarikar's Jodhaa Akbar. To lend authenticity to his historical, Gowarikar has made use of the real stuff instead of fake ones that are generally used in period films. The jewellery for Jodhaa Akbar has entirely been sponsored by Tanishq who earlier did the same for Shah Rukh Khan-produced, Paheli (2005). Our unit source reveals, "Right from the lead characters of the film, played by Hrithik (Akbar), Aishwarya (Jodha) and actor Sonu Sood, who play a part of the royal family, to those including the junior artistes, all have been wearing real diamonds, pearls and rubies for the film. The rakhi that Jodha ties to her brother, a Rajput king was studded with diamonds and rubies and was worth Rs 9 lakhs. Akbar's sword which Hrithik Roshan brandishes in the film is studded entirely with diamonds, rubies, emeralds, and sapphires and is worth Rs 14 lakhs. The entire jewellery cost runs into crores, but that has been taken care of as it is all sponsored by popular jewellery brand, Tanishq." < align=center marginWidth=0 marginHeight=0 src="googleDisplay.htm" Border=0 width=250 scrolling=no height=250></> "The designs of the jewellery for the Moghuls were different and so was it for the Rajputs therefore the perfectionist that he is, Gowarikar sat with special designers of Tanishq and worked on them," adds our source. The source continues, "A set of assistants were specially deputed to take care of the costly jewellery from Tanishq itself. The entire star cast and the crew was so particular that they didn't lose a single piece of jewellery nor did any untoward accident take place on the set. Most of the jewellery like the earrings were slip ons and in case it fell off if the costume was heavy, the entire team would search for it and replace it immediately. The Tanishq team was very alert all the time. Every piece was counted and returned back to the security room after the shoot. The set had a security room where the jewellery was kept after the shoot and every piece of jewellery was accounted for." Another unit source also tells us that the Lagaan maker who had done three-and-a-half years of research on the subject got in make up men who were trained by Hollywood make-up artistes. "They have used the costliest make up brand MAK for the film so that the looks of all the artistes are the same. The king and queen have a little different look but MAK sponsored the make up kit right from eyebrow pencils to pancake so that the looks of the artistes carry some uniformity." http://news.indya.com/newsDetails.aspx?xfile=2007/August/New s_20070814_104 |
