Shiney Ahuja was upset by his Har Pal co-star Preity Zinta's interference in the script changes and threatened to leave the film over that. The Jahnu Barua (Maine Gandhi Ko Nahi Maara) directed urban romantic comedy was on the verge of getting into a big mess when Preity angered by accusations on her had blasted off Shiney.
A unit insider tells us, "The script of Har Pal was written in Hindi in devnagari. As the shooting of the film got underway, Preity Zinta was not happy with the Hindi written dialogues, being used to Hindi dialogues written in English. She expressed her displeasure and had suggested to get them changed into written in English. Jahnu got it done and sent the new script draft to all his actors including his lead pair Shiney – Preity and Dimple Kapadia."
"Trouble erupted when Shiney realized there were many changes in this new version of the script. He found out that his scenes had been tampered with and Preity's changed for her good. He made his displeasure clear to the film's makers and conveyed his desire to walk out of the film," the insider adds.
"The panic struck makers then had to cajole the Metro star to get back in the film because they had reached a stage with the film from where it was very difficult to replace him with any other actor. Shiney obliged making it clear that he would want the changes taken back. The makers agreed to the same and Shiney reported back to shoot for the film," the insider concludes.
Another insider present on the sets tells us, "When Preity got to know that Shiney was accusing her of playing mischief with the script she blasted off saying he should be lucky to have been cast opposite her. She doesn't need to resort to such gimmicks."
Speaking on Shiney's behalf, his spokesperson cum PR, Dale Bhagwagar clarifies, "I cannot comment on Preity's angle to the episode but Shiney has had no issues with anyone connected to the film. When he was presented the new draft of the film, he was in fact very impressed. There was no question of him challenging the script sense of a multiple, prestigious international awards winning filmmaker like Jahnu Barua. Shiney is currently busy shooting in Dubai for his first action role in ad filmmaker turned director, Kunal Shivdasani's Hijack and will be back tomorrow. He still has portions of Har Pal which he is definitely going to finish shooting."
