He was very confident about Saurav Ganguly's return to the international cricket scene, but this time he is even more confident. "Arre! What do you mean by Sanjay Dutt's comeback? Sanju is right here. Among us."
The speaker is the undisputed Badshah of Bollywood, Shah Rukh Khan. In an exlusive interview to Anandabazar from the Yash Raj Studios, Shah Rukh sounded excited in his reaction while speaking about the struggles of two fallen heroes. The two S's. Saurav and Sanjay. One has come back with amazing determination. The other will have to renew his struggles in Mumbai's Arthur Road Jail.
But like I said, Baazigar Shah Rukh bets that the latter's comeback is simply a matter of time. A mere formality. While the national media has been unsuccessful in getting his fresh reactions, Shah Rukh – quite spontaneously and willingly – told Anandabazar that "Saurav's and Sanjay's cases are poles apart. But that does not make much difference. Let alone India, how many fighters like Sanju are there in the world? There have been so many negative waves one after the other flowing into his life. But he has always crushed them and returned to his normal lifestyle." Drug addiction, sudden passing away of parents, prison, bad films, wrong personal decisions…. Shah Rukh started to list. Sanjay doesn't figure in the megastar's close circle of friends that includes Karan Johar, Aditya Chopra, Farah Khan and Farhan Akhtar. But Shah Rukh wants to stand by the Munnabhai during his unfortunate six-year sentence. "I have heard a wrong theory going around that one has to be punished for doing anything wrong. It is not always true. There are sometimes when the circumstances or the environment become such a burden that you can't help or get out of it." Even after saying all this, he continues to express his disappointment. "I feel sad. But what can we do other than being sad and wish him luck." The very next moment Shah Rukh brightens up, "A man who till the age of 47-48 has taken so many obstacles in his stride, will get over this one too. Sanju will simply blow this one away as well."
