Cash delay disrupts schedule of many
By MovieTalkies.com, 28 July 2007
The failure to release Cash yesterday has upset the schedule of many other films that are set to release in August. The uncertainty is playing havoc with distributors and exhibitors. The film is now supposed to release on August 3rd but it may not due to differences between the producer Sohail Maklai and the distributors.

The other problem that the film will face is from Anil Kapoor's Gandhi, My Father, which is set to release on August 3. The film has extensively booked theatres and multiplexes all across the country. Apparently Manmohan Shetty of Adlabs did ask Anil to shift to the next convenient date and he did agree. But with Chak De India set to release next Friday and theatres already being booked, it would have meant delaying the release of his film unnecessarily. And he was not willing to move forward the date of release. The other, more important reason, that the world premiere has been planned in Johannesburg for August 3 and Nelson Mandela is expected to be the chief guest at the function. This makes it difficult for Cash as almost all the Fridays in August have big releases coming up. While Cash will be releasing with 800 prints and Gandhi with 300, the latter is bagged all the plumb shows, thus forcing distributors of Cash to release the film in theatres which are not their first choice.
