| His known for his forthrightness and may also seem blunt at times. He is probably one of the very few directors in the world who retired when his career was at its peak. He chose to be a producer and story writer instead. His production house has created a name from the unique kind of films they make. Their upcoming film is Awarapan starring Emraan Hashmi and Shreya Saran. The film is directed by Mohit Suri. Mahesh Bhatt interacted with his fans on IndiaFM on celebrity chat on June 14. Mahesh bhatt : i v never treated myself that i m anything more than a machine... Sneha : Hey Mahesh. Im a huge fan of urs. I think your films are fantastic and very real. Woh Lamhe is my fave film. Can i just ask how true is it to your real life story with Parveen Babi. She was such a star and its really sad to know what happened to her. I love her dearly. Mahesh bhatt : portions of Woh Lamhe were sourced from my life...but to say that each scene that u saw was an exact replay would be false...but it did capture the emotional truth of once life with Parveen.... pepper : your new movies are not a patch on the old ones...y the fall in quality....y are u compromising Mahesh bhatt : i disagree...gangster, woh lamhe were great films...watch awarapan...it will dazzle u.... pokiri : sir,y have 2 stopped directin movies? Mahesh bhatt : there comes a time...when u need to pass the baton to the younger generation....i find the youngsters brighter, and more relevant than i m... Pratyush : Woh Lamhe rocks. Tell us Mahesh, you have been launching many newcomers till now. What is it that you look in any fresher before taking him/her up and launching him/her under your banner? Mahesh bhatt : what i look for in any person is passion and honesty... Celitina : What's the next movie you are producing after Awarapan? Suicide Bomber? Mahesh bhatt : Dhoka, directed by Pooja Bhatt followed by Showbiz, directed by Raju Khan....suicide bomber is our international product...it will take some time.... aryan : when will mahesh bhat direct again Mahesh bhatt : the only way to be a director is to demolish the person u claim to be inspired from...all art essentially is a revolt.... keenu : ur fav films n actors Mahesh bhatt : my fav actor is marlo brando...and my fav film is Dr Zivago by David Lean.... Celitina : Where do you see Kangana would be 5 years from now? You think, will she be the next Madhuri? Mahesh bhatt : Kangana has a bright future...she is one of the most talented actresses that the industry has seen in recent times...however the future depends on how she is used by the directors and the producers...
Mahesh bhatt : I don't think anybody in the industry has given chances to outsiders than i have...u can't expect me to disqualify a person because he happens to be my relative... fidashah : i love ur effort at kara film festival where u create so many ways to enhance fragrance of love between two countries Mahesh bhatt : kara has done more for the indo pak relationship than all the bureaucrats on both sides of the border...we have achieved in the last four years more in the indo pak relationship than what our predecessors achieved in the last fifty five years...
Mahesh bhatt : i make what u call "po*n Movies" becoz u guys see it...i have made more money from murder than from zakhm...start seeing a zakhm and i shall stop making a murder... keenu : ur thoughts on sanjay leela bhansali Mahesh bhatt : i saw devdas which had spectacle but lacked the soul and the anguish that the earlier devdas had....i look for truth...i didn't find any in devdas...black i haven't seen nor do i have the desire to see it.... keenu : pooja bhatt in daddy or in zakham Mahesh bhatt : Pooja Bhatt in Zakhm was far superior to the one in Daddy...but the Pooja Bhatt of Daddy has something special. She had innocence.... Vikram Bhatt : do u recall ur film kartoos? it was amaaaaaaaazing Mahesh bhatt : Kartoos is a film which i made in my sunset years as a director...i m suprised that u liked it...i cudn't stand it.... fidashah : i love ur saaransh Mahesh bhatt : Saaraansh was a high point of my creative life...it's humbling to see that twenty three years later people still talk about it... Sneha : I have also read a book on UG Krishnamurthy which you wrote. Is he still alive? Mahesh bhatt : UG passed away on the 22nd of March...this year...in Italy....I was with him....when he took his last breath....i hope to write about those moments i spent with him...in Italy.... parveen babi : hey....y do u always copy foreign films? Mahesh bhatt : I copy foreign films becoz i m a low grade moron and i have never claimed to be an original...
Mahesh bhatt : well. we thought that was an interesting mix between Witness and an original story that we had come up with...but we r only humans...we do make mistakes... keenu : why dont bhatt camp work with established actors Mahesh bhatt : Keenu it is better to be a star than lean on stars..
Mahesh bhatt : Abhi, i have a special gift . ha ha ha... poo : hi mahesh....which actor?actress do u think is the best among those launched by u? Mahesh bhatt : Poo...that is an unfair question that u ask a parent which child u love the most.... fidashah : even u have given sanju a wonderful start with Naam Mahesh bhatt : i m glad that sanju came into his own with my film Naam...we owe a lot to each other.... Celitina : In your opinion, who will be the bigger director in Bollywood? Mohit Suri or Anurag? Mahesh bhatt : Celitina....u can't compare apples and oranges....they both have distinct style of their own... aryan : i think gangster would have been much better without emraan he spoiled d show Mahesh bhatt : Aryan i disagree but i can't argue with ur opinion..... keenu : I really want to watch manisha koirala in some bhatt production,will u cast her Mahesh bhatt : Keenu, manisha is a dear friend of mine....i would certainly work with her if i have a role for her... fidashah : why u still away with Amitabh ji,we wanna u work together Mahesh bhatt : Fidas i have no interest to work with icons....u can not become gold by touching gold presuming that what u call is really gold.... Celitina : Who will be playing female lead in Dhoka? I heard Kangana refused it. I can't wait to see Mrinalini on screen. Mahesh bhatt : Celitina, Dhoka, we are making is quite different from what was narrated to Kangana...this is a completely new story...we have Tulip Joshi who is playing the lead.... Vikram Bhatt : what about ur film on bob woolmer...is that going top happened or was it a publicity stunt ? Mahesh bhatt : Vikram. the film on bob woolmer is called Jannat and it is based on the story of a young boy who becomes a bookie in the big bad world of cricket betting....the film will roll in the month of august... fidashah : i never forget ur janam,is it ur own story Mahesh bhatt : Yes Fida, Janam is the closest to my life.... hitubaba : sir, r u a vegetarian? Mahesh bhatt : Hitu i m n absolute vegetarian but i don't make a virtue out of it...or have a sense of superiority....

Mahesh bhatt : Parveen, when u don't direct a film, and only produce it can obviously not have a personality, but i find...an Awarapan which we have made far superior to al the films that we've made including mine.... tiya : Hello, why arent the Bhatts and Mithoon not working together, as Mithoon is an awesome music composer... Mahesh bhatt : Tiya, We hope to work with Mithoon, he is a talented boy.... Vikram Bhatt : to err is human... is that y u made kartoos? Vikram Bhatt : are nadeem shravan coming back in raaz 2? am i going to direct the sequel as well uncle? Mahesh bhatt : Raaz 2 will have a musical score.....from a brand new music director...we shall announce his name shortly and the film will be directed by Mohit Suri and not u Joker.... Pratyush : Mahesh, u think ONLY indians can work in bollywood? What if an NRI wants to act ? What if someone from Australia wants to get a break under ur banner? Mahesh bhatt : Pratyush, depends on how good u are...regions and nationalities have never been a hindrance to cast anyone in my films.... Fenil Seta : From all the films made by Vishesh Films, which is your favourite? Mahesh bhatt : Awarapan, Awarapan, Awarapan.... Celitina : Is it true you're upset with Kangana for not agreeing to do your films because of bold scenes? Mahesh bhatt : Celitina, not at all..if u want to imagine a conflict it is ur privilege... pokiri : who is elder,you or Mukesh Bhatt? Mahesh bhatt : Pokiri, Mukesh is younger to me by 5 years...I am 58, he is 53.... poo : wat do u think of yashrajfilms?? Mahesh bhatt : the kara film festival is a major platform through which the indo pak relationships have been improved in the recent times...three cheers to it... Aisha : y is emraan hashmi a part of most of ure films? Mahesh bhatt : Aisha, i love emraan....he is my nephew...after awarapan u won't ask me this question.... Celitina : What is your connection with Pakistan? Mahesh bhatt : Celitina....Pakistan is my neighboring country with which i have the warmest of relationships....i have received more love from the people of that land than i have received from he at home... aaaa : y dnt u make movie with srk? Mahesh bhatt : I have made two disasters with srk...chaahat and duplicate...but now since we have had a policy change...the chances of me working with him are none.... Vikram Bhatt : what is ur queation with aamir khan now? Mahesh bhatt : Sooraj is a absolute darling.....he is not in awe of his talent and is perhaps the humblest man in Bollywood....I love him....
Mahesh bhatt : Salman, religion is not something that interests me ....i have no such plans.... adil : hello sir is your movie awarapan similar to desparado? Mahesh bhatt : No Adil , Awarapan is not similar to desparado at all...it is a story of aman who makes a living thru kidnapping people....who finally gives all that he has for the freedom of a woman.... pokiri : Do you agree that RajiniKanth is the biggest star in India? Mahesh bhatt : Rajnikanth is undoubtedly the star of all stars....it is high time we here in mumbai....realise that indian cinema doesn't mean Hindi cinema only...it also means Tamil cinema, Telugu cinema...and cinema of all other regions....
