he entire city of Yorkshire is planning to celebrate Shilpa Shetty's birthday on June 8, post her Big Brother success. Shilpa is quite stunned by the news. "What can I say now? It is really overwhelming," says the actress. So, how does she view this sudden international success? "I have got a huge boon and I can't thank God enough. However, it is an added responsibility when you become a celebrity," she says.
About her preference of films due to her international success she says, "I have been doing Hindi films all the while. I don't have the time to do Hindi movies now because my hands are really full and at this point of time I can't sign a film until next year. Until then, I want to concentrate on the release of Apne. I am busy with my musical which will be premiering on Broadway and I am rehearsing for it. I am working on a British film also. Later, I will work on Hindi films provided I get the right kind of script."
"I have always been choosy. I have done work that has been gratifying for me. I worked with good makers like Dharmesh Darshan, Indra Kumar and Revathi. I feel sad when people haven't recognised that. I don't know what they are expecting of me now," she says. "I am happy with Metro and Apne that I signed before Big Brother and I am proud of them. Next year, whatever I do, I hope it justifies me as an actress," Shilpa adds. Shilpa accepted the male-dominated Apne because the script was good. "The film has a great casting coup and a great team to work with. Yes it is a male dominated film, and I am not denying that. But it has me in an important part as well. The beauty of this film is that it has something that one can identify with and believe in. Why wouldn't I do a film with good songs and great emotions? questions Shilpa.
