The Bachchans seem to be making amends. After the star-studded Abhishek-Aishwarya wedding last month, Amitabh Bachchan has now extended invitations to his kith and kin for a reception to be hosted shortly.

The date and venue of the event will be finalised after Bachchan returns from Cannes, France, where he is along with his son and daughter-in-law, sources said. One of the relatives who got the invitation was his nephew, Kishore Ramchandra, a resident of Katghar, Mutthiganj in Allahabad.

In a letter addressed to Kishore and his family, the Bachchans expressed regret for not inviting them to the wedding, citing the illness of his mother Teji Bachchan and the wishes of the couple for a quiet wedding. It also said Teji was in the hospital and had come home for only an hour to attend her grandson's marriage. "We seek your blessings and good wishes on this auspicious occasion. Abhishek and Aishwarya expressed a desire for a quiet and simple wedding," it read.

Kishore, son of Ram Chandra, a cousin of Bachchan, was more than happy with the invite which arrived with five packets of sweets on Monday evening. Printed in both Hindi and English, it quoted couplets from the works of Harivansh Rai Bachchan.

i am sick of this family esp amitabh and aishwarya.........puck. they just think they are the most important people in this world.

😆 The wedding cetainly wasnt! And the reception isnt gonna be...if like the whole of bollywood is invited! 😳 [well lets see the invitations]

I thought tht after the reception,the couple goes for a honeymoon.............yahan pe toh ulta hi ho raha hai 😆

But seriously,it sounds stupid to me n a "simple n quite" wedding,who are they trying to fool 😕
