Who's the fairest of them all?

As one of the most beautiful women in the world readies to relinquish her singledom tomorrow, HiTLIST rates some of her best on-screen looks. Maybe the green-eyed beauty can take a cue from our bride-o-meter and select some style mantras from her filmi avatars for her Big Day. You think, it's a bit too late? Well, then what's a wedding without last minute changes!
Golden gal

Film: Aur Pyaar Ho Gaya

The look: It was her first brush with Bollywood and Aishwarya Rai looked ethereal in every single frame.

Especially in the sagaai sequence, where she donned this golden salwaar kameez. Her aura and the jewellery was pure magic.

Our take: Despite being a dhinchaak piece of work, we believe such creations are the best choice for her wedding outfit. So that's that.

Bride-o-meter rating: *
*1/2

Innocent beauty
Film:
Devdas

The look: Paro's arrogance made her look beautiful, but it was her innocence that made her look even more so.

A cream sari, long loose silky hair and bindi to match, it can't get better than this. Can't make out what's more radiant — the lamp or her face.

Our Take: Certainly a thumbs up for this look but too simple for an event as high profile as her shaadi.

Bride-o-meter rating: **
Going aqua
Film:
Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam

The look: Feeling the blues? Check Ash at her bubbly best gyrating in this heavily embellished blue choli ghagra.

The intricate embroidery, the mirror work and aqua hue made her look like a true-blue siren.

Our Take: Ash should definitely consider blue as a potential option if she intends to wear a sharara or choli ghaghra for the special day.

Something along the lines of her nimbooda dress should be ideal.

Bride-o-meter rating: ***

Playing 'Bong'o
Film
Chokher Bali

The look: No prizes for guessing that this particular look is going to her soon-to-be ma-in-law's fav.

Even Jaya Bachchan will vouch that her bahurani is looking just like a coy Bengali beauty eagerly waiting to get a look of her groom's face behind the betel leaves.

The mukut, sankhaa and the big red bindi — it's traditional beauty at her best.

Our Take: Try this out if you wanna make a real good impression on your momma-in-law.

Bride-o-meter rating: ****
The suitable bride
Film:
Bride And Prejudice

The look: The pristine white look in this crossover flick made hearts skip a beat. The simple look, pendant and wedding gown is absolutely neat.

Looking at her, we can safely say every man in the world would consider it his fortune to get a kiss from this bride.

Our take: We would love to see Ash in this avatar, but sigh! We know it's gonna be an out and out Hindu wedding.

Bride-o-meter rating: ***1/2
Lal kamaal
Film:
Provoked

The look: The Coorgi kanya carries every look with such lan.

No wonder she looked every bit of a Punjabi kudi with her choodas, maang tika and that blood red salwaar suit.

Our take: If salwaar kameez is her choice for the day, then it has to be something as gorgeous as this wedding suit.

She looks like a perfect bride.

Bride-o-meter rating: ****
Simply beautiful
Film:
Chokher Bali

The look: Ash as the widow Binodini looked breathtakingly beautiful.

The screen sizzled when the peach-complexioned beauty pampered herself with jewellery and looked nothing short of a goddess.

Our take: Great sense of styling, but again, too thanda for a wedding day.

Moreover, white ain't right for a traditional shaadi ka joda.

Bride-o-meter rating: *
Kaala jadoo
Film:
Umrao Jaan

The look: A look at her plain black dupatta with little touches of golden stitches is black magic.

Adding to that is the shimmering maang tikka.

Ash in this outfit as the plaintive Umrao Jaan Ada made the saying, 'black is beautiful' true indeed.

Our take: Our votes are for this colour, but it is considered ominous for auspicious occasions. Pray, why?

Bride-o-meter rating: *
The queen
Film:
Devdas

The look: One look at her and you know what royalty means.

The legacy and persona that a zamindar's wife of yesteryears presented has been forever epitomised by Ash's look in Devdas.

The nayi naveli dulhan's royal blue saree, the ornaments, the majestic composure on that classy wooden chair makes the actress look absolutely divine.

Our take: This one takes the cake.

Ash, we are hoping you will look something like this on the much-awaited day.

Don't disappoint us, lady. Wot say?

Sirf 'Aish' kar, Abhi!

Dil Naa De: Ajay Devgan
Things seem to have worked out well for Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai, as they get married tomorrow.

But we're now being told that Abhi's good friends Ajay Devgan and Sanjay Dutt weren't too happy about him tying the knot with the former Miss World.

For reasons best known to them, both felt that while Ash was good arm-candy, marriage was something Abhi didn't need to rush into.

In fact, when the duo voiced this 'friendly' advice to Abhi, he didn't take too kindly to it resulting in a cold war between them.

Now, of course, the friendship is back on track and the boys are even attending Abhi's wedding as baaratis.

Cold war

Main Ni'shabd': Sanjay Dutt
Says a source from the industry, "Ajay and Sanju are very protective about Abhishek. Naturally, they wondered if he was making the right decision by marrying Ash.

Both of them have worked with Ash (Devgan in Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, Raincoat and Hum Kisi Se Kum Nahin and Dutt in Hum Kisi Se Kum Nahi and Shabd) and weren't very comfortable with her.

But when they voiced their concerns to Abhishek, he staunchly defended Ash and also fired them for trying to create trouble between him and the woman he worshipped.

Since then, there was some coldness between them and AB. But with the wedding coming up, all was forgiven. Sanjay and Ajay now seem to have no reservations to this match and even attended the sangeet last night.

The standoff did happen, but knowing the might of the Bachchans, nobody will confirm the incident."

As they say, begaani shaadi mein Abdullah deewana!
