Cricket and Bollwood- can the two passions of All Indians remain unaffected by each other??

Cricketers as Actors

Salim Durrani:

He and Parveen Babidid a movie called Charitra in 1973. It was Parveen's debut movie.

Ajay Jadeja:

Worked in an action thriller movie Khel along with Sunny Deol, Sunil Shetty, and Celina Jaitley.

Salil Ankola:

He appeared in five movies including Kurukshetra, directed by Mahesh Manjrekar. In Kurukshetra, he played the role of a police sub-inspector. In another movie titled Silence Please……the Dressing Room he played the character of captain of Indian cricket team.

Anil Kumble :

Appeared in a Marathi movie titled Mirabai- Not Out. The film was directed by award winning Marathi filmmaker, Chandrakant Kulkarni.

Vinod Kambli :

Tried his hand in two movies. Annarth , in 2002 and Bade Dilwala. Both these movies did poor business.

Mohsin Khan :

Husband of actress Reena Roy, also tried to make his way in Bollywood but could not do very well. He appeared in several movies including Saathi by Mahesh Bhatt and Batwara by J.P. Dutta.

Sunil Gavaskar :

Acted in Marathi film Svali Premachi (Shadow of Love)

Sandeep Patil :

Appeared in a movie titled Kabhi Ajnabi Thay in 1985. Bollywood actress Poonam Dhillon also acted in this movie. Indian wicket keeper Syed Kirmani played the villain in this one

Cricket in Hindi Movies

If cricketers took to the movies, several Bollywood heroes have batted and bowled on celluloid too. Dev Anand's film Love Marriage had the zany track, "She ne khela he se aaj cricket match, ek ball mein dil bechara ho gaya lbw."

And, would you believe it, the Evergreen Hero also played a BCCI president in Aamir Khan's Awwal Number. Kumar Gaurav has also played a cricketer in All-Rounder. And who can forget Lagaan or Iqbaal
But the onscreen match in Hum Aapke Hain Kaun takes the cake. The umpire was a dog. And he was almost as good as Simon Taufel.
