While shooting for Vidhu Vinod Chopra's movie 'Eklavya' Amitabh Bachchan was so attuned to the film's music that he did not have any other music played on the sets.
Six months before he began shooting Eklavya , Vidhu Vinod Chopra recorded the movie's theme music, background score and three songs. The theme music and background score, composed by Shantanu Moitra, were played on the sets while shooting the film.
Amitabh Bachchan, who plays the royal guard Eklavya in the film, was absolutely enamored by the film's music. So much that he would often hum the tunes in between the shots.
But one day an interesting incident happened on the sets. Music director Shantanu Moitra thought that Mr. Bachchan must have gotten bored of listening to the same tunes everyday, so he changed the music and put on 'The Godfather' theme music instead.
This change of music angered Mr. Bachchan. He furiously asked the name of the person who had changed the music. A nervous Shantanu kept silent and changed the music back to Eklavya's theme tune.
In a press release, Amitabh has expressed his liking for the music and explained the incident that happened.
"I think the music is fantastic, and my body language was attuned to the score, so the sudden change in the composition was disturbing for me as an actor," says the megastar.
Anyway, even though Mr. Bachchan's snub trembled Shantanu, he also took it as a compliment for his composition.
'Eklavya' is a two-hour film with just one song in the foreground and two songs that play in the background. The film's background score has different themes like 'Om Bhurbhuva Swaha' or 'Gayatri Mantra'.
