From what I have seen, people in metro or in general don't respect locals & their culture. They try to bully the locals. Somehow they feel superior in knowing a foreign English language while ridiculing the language of the land. They even refuse to learn and threaten and sometimes physically assault too when reminded. Locals are bound to feel angry and retaliate. What's the shame in respecting the culture where you live and earn your livelihood?

ya but fighting over language will not benefit anybody. so both parties need to stop and speak the language they are comfortable in and let others be.

but mere bolne se kya hoga. this thing will continue I guess.

It’s a tale as old as time. The South Indians have finally had enough of it and started reacting. North Indians come to the south for better opportunities and life style but don’t want to learn even the local language.

I wouldn't put it past anyone. Even south Indians who live in Maharashtra (Mumbai especially) are just as adamant and behave the same way. Forget about Marathi, they aren't willing to speak Hindi too. They want all to communicate in English.

It's not about just the language. It's about respecting the local culture. You can't demand others to go your ways because you don't want to learn what has been their original way. And when there is a reaction, it is not (almost never) a balanced one.

Kannada language is much closer to Telugu than Tamil. I don't know the origin of any of these languages though, so I don't know if what KH is saying is right or wrong.

So now the movie is banned in Karnataka because of what KH said? Sigh!!!

Omg….not true at all. Telugu existed simultaneously along with Tamil but after Sanskrit, it got a lot sanskritized and have more common words with Sanskrit.
