She was not a nobody...she got the tag of miss world already, was an establish actress and especially when that incident happened in early 2000s she was ahead of Salman in popularity post the release of Devdas, while Salman was going through his bad patch of career until 2009 when Wanted and Dabangg bailed him out.

She's the one who washed her dirty laundry in public by issuing a nasty statement against Salman. She used her PR to portray Vivek as attention-seeker. And she has been using her PR to defame Bachchans. Everything we know about her relationship and breakup with Salman and Vivek is from her mouth. Salman has never said anything about their relationship. He's the one who stayed quiet. The fake drama queen is the one collecting sympathies by speaking about her victim story in interviews. Her PR recycles her victim story every few days. But she claims that she stays silent, zips her mouth, has never said anything, refused to talk about it....LOL.

She cheated on him with Vivek and then she cheated on Vivek with Abhishek. Salman has never beaten her. And the killings were an accident which happened on the night of September 21, 2002...about 8-10 hours after she published (on the front page of the newspaper through her PR Hari Singh) that rabble-rousing statement in which she accused him of unsubstantiated abuse. But yeah, she's the victim in every situation and everyone else is the villain.

My duty towards all those who believe in me and love me compels me to make the following statement, even though I had always believed in the dignity of silence. That is why like any other self-respecting woman and God is witness, I said enough and ended it almost two years ago but because of a dignified silence, all have misrepresented my stand and spread rumours about my character and baselessly alleged affairs and tried to spoil healthy working relations with costars.

I do not want to get into the gory details and obnoxious experiences, which incite washing dirty linen and other ugly untruths. I have just to clarify this! For a very long time now, they have time and time again, tried to wreck my peace and sanity both personally and professionally. But they all forget-no one can play god; because there is a God! That is the only truth. My belief in God and my family has stood by me in solidarity, giving me the strength to rise above it all. And I must add, that it has been very easy for some members of the film industry, media or social circles to flog opinions, when they have not been at the receiving end. And when so many of them God knows, have been witnesses and in knowledge of the truth. This is truly sad.

Contrary to the rumours, I do not call him. On the contrary, he has tried calling me and texting me on the pretext of his film Bajirao Mastani even using Mr Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s identity.

I have been compelled to make this otherwise trivial validation in print because of the continuous lies and false stories being circulated. Honestly, I do not have the time, energy and man power to keep reiterating validations against every false stories or allegations.

On the end note, I am choosing the kind of films, roles, and directors I want to work with and enjoy the experience of the film. This way I can cherish the making of each film and give my best to every role and assignment that I accept, with peace and happiness intact. And that is of earnest importance – peace within and all around.

I have just come out of a near fatal accident: accident miraculously only with an ankle fracture and a couple of wounds and abrasions; completely and act of God. And this is no exaggeration! God is extremely kind and I sincerely thank my friends and well-wishers for all their prayers, blessings and good wishes – I cherish them dearly as I take this time to recover and heal. In this interview with Karan Thapar on June 20, 2001, Karan asked Aishwarya if Salman beat her. This was in reference to the news going around that she attended Filmfare Award ceremony with a "broken" arm.

This topic in their conversation starts at 18:30 and goes until 20:27 in the below interview:

Karan Thapar: Last year, when the magazines were absolutely convinced that you were going to marry Salman, they gave you a really tough time in fact there was a moment when you fell down the stairs and they were convinced he'd beaten you up.

Ash Rai: Like they did when I fell down the stairs during Miss India and they were convinced that's why I lost so I mean they always people always have their reasons and they'll always create a story around it but when I get that opportunity I tell the truth as is and then left to you to.

Ash Rai: Obviously I mean yes but then obviously you can't go around saying oh I'm so exhausted and I fainted because then you know what then the industry would panic at that point in time and then turn around and say you know oh is it overwork and is this what's happening.

Karan Thapar: You're saying a very fair thing and one that I think many many people would agree with you find the media becoming more responsive and and more responsible. Is this year easier than last year?

Ash Rai: How much can the facts that I've never really pandered to and cater to the media all these years is because then it's this it's this ridiculous pattern that follows where you are offering explanations for life that you don't need to and when you're going to do this the only reason I even spoke was because I felt genuinely someone else was being victimized unnecessarily our families were being roped in my family his family people are being unnecessarily being put through pain and made a media spectacle out of for no reason it's a symbiotic relationship the industry and the media that's happen one recognizes it but you cannot cross barometers and turn around and character assassinate whereby then you've got you know um groups you've got bodies out there where they can make things sometimes communal I mean if you recognize sensitivities of communities of a country you recognize sensitive issues I think the media has a responsibility not to cross barometers and they've done that and they misquote people they put words in people's mouth which can become very very grave sensitive issues and I think this is where where I seek I actually reach out and request the media to recognize their responsibility.

Where's the black eye? She's wearing tinted shades. Passing the tinted shades off as black eye is something only she can get away with. So smart!

Another smart thing is how she passed off that brown leather arm cuff/armlet as a cast!

She herself said in interview with Karan Thapar (interview link and transcript pasted in my previous comment) that Salman did not beat her and that she fell from stairs.

If someone gets injured by falling from stairs or after being beaten, they would be in a hospital crying in pain, not jumping around and laughing in award ceremonies.

Below are the close-up shots of her from the award ceremony. Both her arms, shoulders, and hands look perfectly fine. There are no injury marks or blue bruises and it certainly doesn't look like a broken arm. In the video, she could be seen bending both arms fine and moved them freely. That thing she's wearing on her arm is not a cast on a broken arm, it's a fashion accessory.

The last picture was taken last year when she was at the airport to catch her flight to Cannes. That looks like a real cast in an arm sling. Wonder what happened....

So, there is a 'timeline' from changing Aish-statements from June 2001 to September 2002 to April 2003

I think, the accident isn't related to the published statement but to another incident between Aish and Salman.

If the dates all are correct, the accident happened 6 days before Aish's statement in the TOI...

Edit: another source: the accident happened the 28th (not the 21st) of September 2002 - that, indeed, would make the timeline more logical.
