Firstly, Immortals and its sequels are known as the Shiva Trilogy. The central character goes by the moniker of Shiva and there are several allusions in the Immortals of Meluha (for example Shiva getting a blue throat upon drinking Somras similar to Lord Shiva having a blue neck after drinking Halahal poison) that point towards the character Shiva being the human adaptation of Lord Shiva..In the cover page he carries a trident --the signature weapon of Lord Shiva.
Whereas Lord Parshurama is the 6th incarnation of Lord Vishnu. Parshu in Sanskrit means an axe. In the movie poster, the character is carrying a double edged axe. So it does very much look like an adaptation of Lord Parshurama's tale..
The poster of the movie, however, is very much inspired by the cover page of The Immortals (now you too think the same, I'm convinced even more), but the movie, it seems is a totally different story..
Thank you for explaining it in detail.
I have read the first book upon someone’s recommendation but did not read the other two. But it was quite a while back and I think I would have jumbled up the concept in my head. Thanks again!
