He didn't make a bad movie as such, but he chose the wrong heroine and a very controversial main plot point and didn't make attention to nuances...

Now, I wonder, how much SRK was an important factor also in Karan's second film...

Downfall aur downgrade kaha se, Johar ki zadatar films shuru se hi bkwas rahi hain.

Gen z makes fun of these movies n call them illogical but they were full time entertainment n there was a happy feeling left after movies ended.

Nowadays it's difficult to even complete a movie in single watch n then we r left with cringe.

Those dayssmiley27

The movies had power to make you escape into their world, which the current movies cannot do.

Sad, indeed.

No kidding. I swear I won’t watch half the crap I used to watch as a kid, but there are a lot of BW films of the earlier times that have immense repeat value, even with all the slapstick comedy or cringe scenes and what not, movies these days can hardly be watched even one time, let alone repeatedly like the old ones. Something is seriously lacking!

This song in particular became such a rage. I think it’s still that one special song for functions and celebrations.

K3G connected with the diaspora in a way that probably no other movie has. And I don’t mean just Indian diaspora. Middle Easterners, Afghans, Iranians, etc. All of these communities very strongly related to being separated from parents for years or even decades. Circumstances are obviously different as for a lot of them it’s political conflict back home that’s keeping them from seeing each other. But not being able to see your mother or father for decades, or grandchildren that have never met their grandparents, is way more common for certain communities in the diaspora.

And not to take anything away from KJo and his work but SRK’s impact in this movie can never be overstated.

This was also one of the movies where I loved all the characters and their distinct layers. I remember wanting both brothers for myself and then wanting Kajol as my bestie while wanting to channel Poo’s attitude. I was oddly attracted to Amitabh too and also wanted Jaya to be my own mother.

Because of this movie, if my mom isn’t holding a thali for me everytime I go visit her - I am disappointed and it’s unacceptable.

Too much of westernisation of Bollywood has led to its downfall. I simply can't connect with hero heroine first sleeping together n then falling in love.

Even this song was a copy of a popular Pakistani song Bouhay Baarian sung by Hadeeqa Kiyani.

The downfall of originality and creativity was always there in Bollywood after the 70s decade.

(Bollywood... even the industry's name is not original)
