It is best to compare with Rocky aur Rani as it is the same filmmaker and also a "family drama film".

With another actress as heroine maybe the vibes would have been more intense (to me)...in my feeling Alia performed in a forced way (which - except Kareena - none in K3G did...and Kareena came more across as willingly giving a pastiche-performance in the part before Bole Chudiyan).

However, the grandeur and showing serious family issues, had been well executed (although, here, too, I would have liked a more nuanced portray of Ranveer's parents).

This is actually true.smiley42

It’s been so long since we got to see movies like K3G.And why just K3G..I miss movies like Munnabhai, Mohobbatein,Welcome(all diff from one another yet all of them entertained us).

The actors lack that aura these days IMO.smiley28

Sadly, I felt the same...it's even worse on seeing her facial expressions on big screen... also in Gully Boy I felt a better connection between Ranveer and Alia than in Rocky Aur Rani (well then Alia wasn't in the same emotional situation in her private life).

Okay, in between, there had been Kalank, Sadak 2, SLB as a director, and the Brahmastra disaster..and Heart of Stone... enough to test her confidence...to me, she definitely didn't act in a confident (believable) way.

Althought I grew up in the 2010 era, K3G was literally my childhood!

Before COVID, there was much more escapism through gorgeous/well entertaining movies...

After COVID, with a rather unexpected, very cruel reality, escapism cinema has difficulties to regain the 'smiling lightness of being'... and the governmental involvement in the filmmaking is not helping either...

What a beautiful Era that was, absolutely magical. What a downfall and downgrade Karan Johar as a director.
