Are we gonna pretend rani didn’t have her share of underving kjo/yash raj popular award wins instead of someone more deserving …I mean she won for hum tum over urmila in ek hasina thi or aishwarya in raincoat …just coz hum tum was the more popular film…that’s how popular best actor awards work

hum tum was more than a romcom .. she played a widow who fell in love again but refused to accept the man she had slept with as the man was ignorant of love .. it was quite path breaking for 2004.

It’s not more path breaking than a timid woman jailed for a crime she didn’t commit who toughens up , plans escape and vengeance on her perpetrator , tracks him down , two times him and tortures him to death …yes in 2004 (Ek hasina thi)

Or a film like raincoat where a mainstream actor like aishwarya did the role of a married woman and the film explores her relationship with another man …all centred around a single afternoon with only limited characters …

Again both films with no commercial songs or dance or anything ….way more path breaking for 2004 for mainstream actors to do

She won critics award right ? Fully deserved

Her movie was a small budget average earner at the BO. It was never going to win any popular category awards. Just doesn't work like that. I am surprised it even got a popular category best actress nomination in the first place. Made no sense

I have not seen rani attending award shows after hum tum.

Rani wasn't even eligible for the main actress win since her movie tanked. It's called Best Actress Popular for a reason. If anything, you should be questioning how biased Filmfare is for still nominating her.
