I think whats insane is both Kareena and Priyanka have only won the main Best Actress award once....and someone like Alia is about to break records as the actress with the most wins.

Kareena was not taken seriously before Jab We Met. It released in 2007. At that time, Ash was number one actress with Dhoom 2 and Guru. Then, Katrina became number one actress till 2012. After that, it’s Deepika.

No Aish was not number 1, she was always inconsistent though a top actor for sure

Rani was no.1 from 2004 to 2006. Then 2007 led to her decline with all her movies flopping and kareena just came and conquered it all. She was on every magazine cover and they all said Numero Uno of BW

I dont know if some of people were just to young to remember or are blind hatersFrom 2007-20210/11 was clearly Kareena No 1. Just watch Kwk season 3 literally everyone guest called her No 1.

Why do you have problem with Alia? Box-office is not everything. I remember in 2017, many people on this forum said that she is the number one actress.

2007 was ruled by Deepika with Om Shanti Om, both in India and overseas. Deepika was a top contender, but she was a completely new actress. If you go strictly by popularity, Kat was the biggest star of the year with 4 hits, Kareena swept all the awards for JWM, and Rani was still very popular. All of them were bigger than Deepika.

2008 was ruled by Anushka Sharma overseas with Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi and Asin for Ghajini in India. LMAO Asin = ruled 2008? Why? Just because she was in the highest grosser? LOL. 2008 was PC's year with a big hit in Dostana and a critically acclaimed film in Fashion that made her win most awards.

2009 was 3 Idiots so this was Kareena's year. But even then, keep in mind that the marketing and promotion for this film mainly focused on the three main male leads. Kareena's role is the fourth most important role. Most leading ladies are the second most important character or tied with the hero as the most important. Kareena starts her trend of latching onto the Khans with lesser roles just so she can claim box office success.

2010 was ruled by Kajol overseas with My Name is Khan and Sonakshi Sinha for Dabaang in India.

The only film of hers that was ever #1 at the box office for India was RRR and she's a cameo in that with only four scenes and was derided online for having such a small role yet making such a big deal out of her "involvement." Aishwarya, who Ponniyin Selvan hinges around, starred in a film that grossed more overseas that same year. Not only that, but the marketing for the Hindi dub of PS revolves entirely around Aishwarya so you can see whose name is being sold here. She has second billing in the movie and in the non-Hindi promotion, is still always pictured with the rest of the cast front and center. RRR has 1-2 posters that feature Alia.

Box office status don't make someone number 1. You can have a flop film and still be number 1 if you are popular amongst the audience, sweep the awards, have big endorsements, are acclaimed etc etc.

By your logic, Amisha should be the #1 actress of both 2000 and 2001 as KNPH and Gadar were the highest grossing movies of those years. Of course that's not how it works.

Kareena and Kat were basically top 2 with PC not far behind starting 2007 up until 2012. And it was these three girls (not rani, preity or Aish) reigning during that time period. Kareena’s career took a hit the year after she got married due to some terribke projects like gori tere Pyaar mein and Satyagraha which coincided with Deepika’s rise in 2013
