Ok, so I have watched the film..... and it was an OKAY film. Strictly, a one-time watch.
The biggest problem with Dunki is that it attempts to be a dramedy, a comedy, a thriller and a slice of life.....all at the same time and ends up being a Khichdi of all these genres.
So the issue here is with the approach taken by Rajkumar Hirani. He tried to amalgamate all the things that worked in the past in this one film, and failed. He has raised the bar too high for himself, so people only expect masterpieces from him. And Dunki is far away from being a masterpiece.
The only good thing about this film is that it deals with the topic of "illegal immigration"....and its consequences.
The supporting cast was good, but the jokes did not land. The emotional scenes did not work either. Also, SRK's dialogue delivery got really annoying within 5-10 minutes. I just could not handle it for the whole film.
None of the characters stay with you after the film, except for Vicky's character. But those who watched the trailer already predicted what's gonna happen with Vicky's character, so there was no surprise too.
Taapsee tried her best, but she did not have enough chemistry with SRK. I still would not say she was bad, but nothing extraordinary.
I am actually disappointed as a fan, because I really wanted the film to work...especially amidst the ongoing epidemic of masala flicks in Indian films.
Btw, there are very few trustworthy online sources these days. There is one section of the audience calling it a masterpiece, and bullying others who don't like the film.
Then, there is another section, that are blind SRK haters, completely discarding the film and celebrating like there is not tomorrow just because the film is not doing as good as Pathaan/Jawaan.
I'd advice people to not trust either of these bots and go with your instinct and have your own opinion on the film.
