I was wondering how he got Animal. He likely ran to Vanga's place praised the man, AR and KS declaring them to be the greatest love stories ever. Meanwhile Vanga feeling sorry for himself (after the critics went nuts on KS) thought here is my next actor. It also explains why Vanga calls Ranbir a mix of DeNiro, Pacino and Kamal Hassan. It is you praise me I praise you club.

I personally think Ranbir is trying to build an image of an star who is very manly, macho and dominating.

His days of being a romantic, chocolate hero are over so he is trying to build a new cult type of an audience.

There is a huge audience (primarily males) that worships such stars. Whole South Indian industry thrives on this kind of fan-worshiping, but there is no one in Bollywood, except maybe Salman.

Success of films like KGF2, RRR, Pushpa etc in past few years is proof that it is a BIG and PROFITABLE market.

vanga said rk called him after kabir singh and said they should work together, so yeh it was rk who approached vanga

RRR doesn’t come under this category though. Both the heros in that movie are anything but toxic or dominating. They both played just two common regular men who become extraordinary because of the excruciating circumstances they were put through.

i agree, it is the era of the hyper masculine macho hero, its all about violence, blood shed, and gaining a the male fan following who loves this sort of stuff. They had already plastered the 'superstar' tag all over the posters of animal, now articles of ranbir being approached by many of the top south directors, calling him a pan india star, ranbir's pr is working overtime at the moment.

I agree with you.

RRR was much better than KGF series and Pushpa, but the film was still very heavy on high-octave, unrealistic-as-hell action + masala sequences....

That's why the film falls under the same umbrella of masochism IMHO.

I enjoyed the film though... at least it treated its female characters better than KGF & Pushpa.
