A recliner in Mumbai is going for 1950 & in Delhi for 1600. That's like 24 US. More than what they charge in North America. I don't even know how ridiculous the IMAX prices are. smiley36 Gadar was 650 & Pathaan was 900.

Regular seats are going for 400-1000. Gadars average rate was 219. Pathan 290.

Pure Cash grab. While 3x Premium for big releases is quite common in South Cinema....this is the first time the Hindi Belt will be witnessing something of this sort. Will people stay away out of principle....there are small murmurs of that but seems to be working big time in general. The footfalls will certainly stay way behind Pathan & Gadar but it doesn't need much to catch up to them with those prices. The weekend will obviously be historic.

Average movie goers in their right minds can't shell out close to 2K even for the experience

Well 2k is obviously for Recliners at a premium property. Average ticket price will be around 650 which is about twice as much as Pathan & 3x Gadar. To be fair, it is a very expensive film.

But these multiplexes should rethink. Looks like they just want to cash in on initial hype of movies and book their profits.

Take n upper middle class family of 4 who have all the luxuries at home. A home theatre with good sound system and cozy space with recliners. Movies come on OTT within few months. They can watch the movie together at their convenience and with their choice of food.

Same experience in a movie hall will cost them around 8k + food. Not to mention Popcorn prices 😂

A day at a good resort will cost them less. Kyun lootna hai aise logo ko

Average ticket price is Rs. 257

The prices are according to their target audience, premium tickets in high end multiplex are being sold for as high as Rs. 2000 and single screens prices are starting from Rs. 75

People pick their price bracket and book the ticket, they can afford

IMAX version is a different ball game as they are limited so ATP in IMAX is Rs. 700

Checked rates in my city..not exorbitant.

Recliners in PVR range from 600-900 as per show timings. Insignia available for 1k n less..premium for around 500.

Inox is also ok. Single screens r even available for 200🙂

Papa Roshan used to inflate the boxoffice numbers but he used to get caught since BOI used to report the actual numbers and there used to be a massive difference between BOi and Papa Roshan's numbers.

Thanks for letting me know.

So, my ticket in the biggest IMAX in the world, the Traumpalast (= Palace of Dreams) in Leonberg, Germany is not very much more expensive (2500 rs = 28 €).

I'm really excited. It's my first IMAX experience and it's Hindi with engl subtitles (I always prefer the original version because of the voices).

This puts a different perspective on which movie is a bigger success with the audience.
