The leftist bile against Gadar is literally unending. The 2001 predecessor succeeded not because it was a nationalistic or jingoistic flick but because it told a heartwarming love story. Actual partition survivors were a part of the mobs that took part in the shooting and were touched by the scenes depicting the agonies of victims. Needless to say, they must have loved it in theatres too.

Moreover, the film was balanced and stressed that India is for all religions. Still, it was labeled anti-Muslim LOL. Leftists! ☕️

Barring the Tara-Sakina scenes and Sunny Deol's towering screen presence as Tara, I didn't like the sequel much. However, I'm very happy to behold its monstrous BO run in both single screens and multiplexes. It proves that 22 years later, the original still holds a great power no matter how much media ignores or labels it outdated.

The director is the real villain of Gadar2, not the caricaturish Manish Wadhwa.

One of the few directors , despite what an ass he had become eventually, who showed the partition in a balanced manner. But yet Sunny Deol was branded as a jingoistic actor and stopped getting roles from the big production houses. I know the sequel is not a masterpiece but I am glad it brought him back to the limelight. Hope he will make the most of this new lease.
