1)The biggest advance recorded in Bollywood history. 33.18 Cr in just advance tickets for today beating 32 cr of Pathaan(Day 2). Pathaan grossed 70 cr total that day.

2) Biggest Independence day collections which were held by Ek Tha Tiger since 2012 (32.93 cr day 1) have been beaten by Gadar just on advance sales.

The only thing that's holding the film down is the lack of screens but the long run should make up for it.

Didn’t know he was playing the same role in the other movie also. Was he also the bad guy or good guy there?

People just don't realise how big a success Gadar was in 2001. Gadar 2 was bound to succeed.

I knew the moment one started to shoot the movie (so knowing the sequel would happen) that the movie will be a success (I never commented otherwise).

I read a lot about Hindi Cinema and Gadar had been a milestone and had made Sunny a kind of national hero (he already had been a beloved action hero).

I'm in no way surprised about the love of the masses who finally got a movie - after Covid-dire times - where they could celebrate their cinema regardless the 'quality' provided that Sunny/the movie would deliver. Almost every positive statement about the movie came with the feeling of nostalgia...and I think, there is nothing wrong with that.

There is only one thing I dislike: there are far too much people who can't stop to make comparisons with other movies not respecting the extraordinary position Gadar 2 has because of being an organic sequel of the 2001 Gadar.

That I don't watch both movies doesn't mean that I'm not positive towards Gadar2 being loved and beneficial for the Hindi film industry.

Edit: Thanks for mentioning Ghatak, suraj... I'll try to find it to watch it...

Never in my dreams did I imagine such a craze

On the contrary they choose to go for larger than life movies if it looks good and not comical. From the trailer I felt it packed the punch and the nostalgia factor gave it it more push. Plus you know ind vs pak on a long weekend leading up to Independence Day …people lap it up lol
