So interesting that Sunny's movie The Hero is mentioned. Researching about Sunny many years ago, I also came across this movie and kept in mind the worries at that time about high budgets (already the year ago with Devdas). I even read an article that still exists (now archived) and it sounds really familiar 20 years later (written by the journalist Vickey Lalwani):
