170/180 for a film I thought would cross 200 easily is a bit of a let down. But if we look at angle that the film opened on a slow note its kinda good. 😆

Watched it, strictly one time watch. Has some good jokes especially in 2nd half. Actors did their part but there is nothing in storyline. How i miss novelty storylines of 90s. Kjo first movies remains to be his best work. Its better than MNIK or Ae dil he muskil but not better than even K3G , forget KKHh. It has no repeat value unless you grew up with 70s, 80s music but even that seem little too forced.
i guess what i liked the most was humor when it landed. Music was shit, which didnt help. Time for some new music directors to come into the industry.
Rating 3/5.
I still don't see how this gets close to 180. The 3rd week hold would have to be extraordinary, despite Gadar 2 releasing.
As much as I despise nepotism, and the unnecessary promotions done by certain production houses for mediocre films; this film is clearly a hit commercially.
The sort of negativity surrounding this forum has been shocking with certain people being called names for simply supporting this movie. The film has already made a worldwide gross of 210 crores +, against a budget of 160 crores {Karan Johar and the Dharma team posted it on their Instagram yesterday, and idk how to upload pictures on this forum}.
The fact that people are *just* counting the domestic collections is so strange to me.

I’ve had to wait ages to watch this, but finally able to go this week. Went to book and could not believe that my usual cinema is literally fully sold out this whole week. What in the worldddd😮had to book at another cinema aur woh bhi ab almost sold out dikha raha hai. It can be cheesy, it can be dramatic, just pls let it be good 🤞🏽
How so? Basic mathematics dictates that you look at the lifetime gross collections of a film lmao; the production house and distributors will only earn domestic profits? How asinine- they will earn whatever money the film collects, be it domestic or international. And Karan Johar drives a lot of revenue from the international BO, so of course the worldwide gross is analysed for any movie; with Pathaan, Dangal and all of the blockbuster movies, the GROSS collection is calculated.
Y'all understandably dislike Karan, and the nepo gang, but the film has MORE than recovered its budget.

I’m no BO expert but as far as I know, when declaring a movie hit/flop, only domestic business is looked at. (Someone feel free to correct me if I’m wrong)
Yes, but in that system that's counted against what the film was sold for to distributors and whether they make a profit. Not the budget which is made with O/S, Satellite, Music rights, TV rights etc in mind by the producers/studios. It's not about profit to the producer or studio or how popular a film is but how much profit the distributor made.
I think BOI used to only look at the Hindi market even if the distributor fee was all India - which made no sense. (Not counting BOI saying they had different standards of success for different actors)
Overall though it's seems a ridiculous way to gauge overall profitability and popularity. Can a film really be a "blockbuster" if it's made 15cr just because it sold distribution rights for 3cr? Is it really a flop if the studio made 100cr in profit? Eh.
