The film will have to gross over 450 cr for PEN India to break even on this deal. They're not that dumb. The numbers won't be anywhere close to 209 Cr for Indian Theatrical rights.

Pen is not distributing it all over India. They have bought Jawan in just the North and West India for 125 cr. These are Delhi-UP, Mumbai, Rajasthan and East Punjab circuits where Pathaan had a share of 160cr. So 125cr for the rights with a further 7% comission on profits is a good deal.

Pathaan had an all-India share of 260 cr if we include South dubbed versions. Here in case of Jawan, the regional distributors are definitely expecting much more from the South circuits. So a 209cr deal seems pretty good.

Jawan does have a humungous buzz among the trade and audience alike.
