I agree with you, elim, but I haven't the same point of view as Indian may have...so, I just respect their veneration for other actors ...and continue to see SRK as a phenomenon that no other Indian actor had become in Western minds (with no desi/arabic/asian roots)...

I heard that Raj Kapoor,Nargis,Madhubala,Dev Anand,Dilip Kumar were popular worldwide.Rajesh Khanna,BR Chopra films,Amitabh,Sridevi and Yrf too are very well known worldwide. Is SRK older than what what he is? Those celebrities or production house were older than him is what the common knowledge among public.

His 90's films are a laughing stock. He is certainly known as a face of mediocrity in BW.

Casually ignoring record breaking hits of Salman and Aamir and using blanket terms like SRK era just reek of bias.

Also it is sheer disrespect and ignorance to exclude Dev Anand and Raj Kapoor and pretend it was only DK era before Rajesh Khanna.

Everyone knows how SRK was floundering when Aamir was giving hits like Ghajini, 3I, Dangal, D3, PK and also had acclaimed films and hits like TZP, Lagaan, RDB without any big banners or one fixed jodi. Or when Salman was able to give huge openers like Dabangg, Ready, Bodyguard, and make any film a hit with his mere presence alone.

Salman was at such a peak that whatever he did became a rage and even if he just put hands in pocket or adjusted his belt, it became a dance move copied by masses.

No way can one call last 3 decades as only SRK era. It is Khans era. Not just SRK's alone.

THIS. Especially AAMIR KHAN'S Part.

I'm one of the biggest SRK fans here and What Aamir and production has done for Indian cinema is unparalleled.

Almost every film between Lagaan and TOH is chef's kiss.

Even before his No Media phase, Ghulam, rangeela and JJWS etc have repeat value and are excellent.

Kings and queens I don't know, but I know srk was struggling in 2011 and 2012 for a good hit ( Don 2 was excellent but wonder how much it succeeded, no comments on JTHJ and Ra.One)

2013 Chennai express saved his face.

2014 Then again bullshit HNY only made money but was shat on.

2015 dilwale. No comments

2016 fan failed which was a lost opportunity. Dz was a good supporting role.

2017 raees wasn't bad. Jhms was another opportunity lost due to annoyshka .

2018 zero I don't know the film's quality but it failed I think.

2023 Pathaan was entertaining and saved him and yrf both.

So no. No is failproof.

Joke. Dharmendra was always overhyped. Never as huge force as Amitabh.

Amitabh has plenty of solo hits like Don, Kaalia, Majboor, Laawaris, Mahaan, Satte pe Satta, Abhimaan, Shahenshah, Black, Sarkar, Manzil, Barsat ki ek Raat, Baghban, Pukaar, Khuda Gawah, Mard, Desh Premee, Jaadugar, Mr Natwarlal, Coolie, Black, Bemisaal, Besharam, Yaarana, Zanjeer etc.

Only his haters like to overhype that non actor Dharmendra or think any film with some also rans like Shashi Kapoor or Rishi Kapoor was a multi starrer.

Bachchan was called one man industry for a reason.

He was never like SRK. He had banned media for all of his career's peak years and patchef up only in mid 90s. He hardly attended awards in his peak years when he was young. There is NO star except Aamir and Amitabh who banned media for all peak years of their youth and never spoke to magazines nor featured on their covers and still made it.

Unlike others who kissed ass of media and fed dinners to media wale and editors to get better hype and reviews.

Dharmendra's so called stardom has always been exaggerated by Bachchan haters and a bunch of Punjabis.

He was never a good or versatile actor. Just a looker and also known more for jodi with Hema and volatile, colourful personal life than his acting.

No command over language, no versatility, no voice modulation or pronunciation. He also ruined his own appearance, health and career by his drinking and alcoholism and began to look flabby and aged in late 70s itself.

Finally a big joke if someone thinks Trishul, Deewar, Namak Halal, Amar Akbar Anthony, Kabhi kabhi, Naseeb etc became hits due to others or are multi starrers. Rishi Kapoor also admitted and said they knew who the biggest star was and they could not hold their own against a storm called Amitabh Bachchan.

Tell me how many solo hits and huge openers do Rishi, Shashi, Shatru have. Naseeb, Dostana, AAA, Parvarish, Deewar, Trishul etc worked solely due to charisma of Amitabh and are still shown on TV due to Amitabh.

Many old stars are not even known for their own films. Their only films which are known to new generation are the ones in which they worked with Amitabh.

This debate is cooked up by Bachchan haters among Khans fans, Kaka fans, Dharam fans, Mithun fans, Jeetu fans, Rajini fans, Sunny fans, Vinod fans, Rishi fans, Shatru fans etc all the time to bring down Amitabh and degrade his stardom and sheer sway he held over masses at his peak. They have been answered with proof many times but they still keep repeating their tripe.

It does not matter.

Crowds and masses prayed for Amitabh when was hospitalised. Without any social media or TV that man inspired such craze in masses. He earns crores through his voice alone which he has copyrighted. He is still going strong and is top brand, most enduring brand of India, getting crores for ads, KBC and bringing money and TRPs while others are forgotten and their comebacks also failed and they have only past glories to rely on.

Your Dharmendra himself said if industry is a train then Amitabh is the engine and always leads, while others just follow suit as Amitabh sets new trends and benchmarks.

Deal with it.

Amitabh is Amitabh. A once in a millennium phenomenon. Such successes are not planned or made. No PR can take a person this far and appeal across generations. Nor has he ever relied on just one banner or filmmaker or jodi to sail his boat. Prakash Mehra, Shakti Samanta, Yash Chopra, Manmohan Desai, Mukul Anand, Hrishikesh Mukherjee, Tinnu Anand etc this man has given hits with every filmmaker.

Dharam's only well known and most watched films among new generation are the ones he did with Hema or Amitabh such as Sholay, Chupke Chupke, Ram Balram, Seeta aur Geeta etc. Wonder what other Dharam starters new generation has seen. TV channels air movies based on viewership and AB films still get highest viewership among all old stars. Online also his films get more hits, views and DVD sales compared to other yesteryear stars.

Dharam was a second rung star. First overshadowed by Rajesh Khanna and later by Amitabh and finally even by Jeetendra and Mithun.

Well said.

Filmfare put only these 3 on cover because they were the only ones who were both alive and media friendly at that point of time.

Raj Kapoor, Dev Anand had died. Others are not media savvy. Salman and Aamir hardly look at media.

Aamir specifically had issues with Filmfare and Stardust and banned awards and media due to these magazines and loathed their editors.

Filmfare was pretending even in 2008-2009 as if it was SRK ruling the roost and ignoring record hits of Aamir who found 100 crore club and 200 crore club.

Filmfare had also ignored Salman all time and ignored his role in success of HAHK, MPK. They hyped SRK for even small roles in Deewana or flops like Anjaam. But ignored record breaking hits of others.

Taking Filmfare as gospel truth is a joke. The magazine and awards are most biased ever.

If Pathaan didn’t happen, people would’ve said Shahrukh’s career ended in the early 2010 ,slowly fading out by 2019 with his films getting rejected one by one. Now that he managed to make news with Pathaan, his fans are behaving like as if he never had that flop phase. It’s all about perceptions babu bhayya.😆
