I think heightened because when one of your seses is weak then you have to rely on the other one more, like if you're blind then you have to rely on hearing more unless you already have hearing issues.

Technically this way round has always made sense to me. But theres one person I know with a strong prescription, when not wearing glasses hears less too. 🤔
