Unlike nepo babies RajKumar Rao is a bundle of talent. He is a phenomenal performer. And his movies are made, promoted, and released with a fraction of cost of what a Ranbir or a Varun or a Tiger movie will cost the producer, and the distributer. Even Badhai Do as a flop has gotten the producers and makers some clout and credibility by winning several Filmfares (keeping the argument about Filmfare in general aside for the moment).

Point being Rajkumar Rao has something to show for; his talent.

I don’t think it can be set aside. I just cant ignore the comments I’ve read that filmfare has no credibility. But now R.Rao bringing in a filmfare shows credibility. Can both those things be true ?

Because producers want to make the film even if it involves flop stars?

IMO, in a way yes! Rajkumar winning for a movie that actually flopped gives the audience a sense that he won solely for the performance. It wasn’t a popularity contest or a power head monopolizing the awards for their favorites. That’s what awards should be all about. The talent shown within the performance and the content of the movie.

So yea Rajkumar Rao winning amidst all the big stars for their big popular movies is at the very least good optics.
