OK, fair point about Amitabh Bachchan.   

Rajkumar is known for being a very talented actor. Specially after Newton and then Trapped. Besides, it’s not like he’s never been in successful movies at all. Barielly Ki Barfi and Stree were huge hits, as was Queen but he didn’t have much to do in that one. But yes like I said on the first page, flop actors are a lot cheaper. And Rajkumar specifically has never been part of some big budget expensive movie, or event film as they are called nowadays and probably never will be as a main lead. 

Barielly ki Barf wasn't a Huge Hit, it was just an average gross. Trapped was a huge Disaster.
