Honestly at this point it is hard for HR to overtake Ajay either.
And as an actor Ajay will remain miles ahead of Khans, Akki or HR anyway.

He absolutely can - he has everything, amazing looks, talent, dance - but he won't because that's not how he is 'wired'.
He's grown to have the "follow my instincts" philosophy which is great for himself but he's not ambitious. Good for him. Just sucks for fans of his who want to see him on top because he himself doesn't function like that.

Hrithik is too carried away by his own comparisons to Hollywood stars and is too much of a wannabe HW star to do some film like Bahubali or Magadheera.
Years ago there were rumours that HR would do remake of Magadheera. But IDK what happened to it.
HR could still play king or warrior.
He has the looks.
I am also surprised he rejected films like Lagaan, DCH, RDB, 3I in his prime because he was not keen to do multi starrers. But agreed to do multi starrers like ZNMD later.
HR should focus on own health and looks. Do more rooted subjects closer to heart of masses.
Didn't know about him rejecting all those movies! The problem when you can't handle overnight stardom.
Anyways, what's done is done. He can choose scripts wisely and do some good movies. Stardom era is over and Hrithik can never go back to that kaho na pyar hai craze days. But he has that charisma to pull movies like Bahubali or top gun maverick, only if bollywood get the script right.
He apparently did not want to do a rural role so rejected Lagaan. It is reported he was also offered Swades but rejected it.
He probably did not want to play multi starrer role in DCH, RDB, 3I and felt maybe Aamir would overshadow him (though he was offered 3I before Aamir).
It is strange how he agreed to do multi starrer like K3G where Amitabh, SRK, Kajol were hogging limelight but felt he would be shortchanged if he did DCH, 3I, RDB.
I can only imagine script sense if one rejects even Lagaan and Swades.
HR cannot get back days of absolute craze like KNPH, KMG, Krissh, D2 as you said. But I think if he goes Aamir way and chooses better scripts and films with potential to strike chord with masses, youth, he can still give anyone a run for their money.
Agree on him being perfect fit for Top Gun style stuff.
He was fab in War. Larger than life warrior or spy or ruler roles suit him.
Nah… if he could, he would have done so long ago
Nope I ain't hurt due to an overrated,OTT film. Apart from VFX there was nothing special in the film.Originally posted by: Alpenliebe
Dude don't put so much strain on your brain. I am anything but bandwagoner. And why it hurts so much when Bahubali name comes 😐 Movie was legit grand and the accolades it got well deserved.
I think it is also sexist on part of fans to expect male stars to be ambitious, competitive or have killer instincts.
I now realise maybe it is too harsh to judge HR if he himself did not really want to overtake Khans or was not hyper about new boys or increasing competition.
It should be okay if he or anyone else want to do as they please, take life as it comes, do what makes them happy and not be bothered about competition and comparisons.
I think we are too brainwashed by capitalism and competition and ranking mentality that we cannot digest a man who is not itching to be #1 or position himself as some all time top star.
I used to earlier feel Aamir was wasting years by taking breaks post peaks like Lagaan and 3I, Dangal etc., or doing just one film a year or one film in 5 years. Now I think it is his choice and it is his success that he manages to lead career on own terms as he finds comfortable and has interests beyond rat race.
I was a bit taken aback by break of SRK also who I least expected to ever take a break. But now I feel it was his choice and good for him to slow down or figure out what he wanted.
I know we keep judging Ash also for letting go and no longer being her competitive self as she was in 2000s but it is her choice and it is okay if she does not want to keep working same way as MD or Rekha, Hema, Kajol, Tabu did nor is too worried about her style or fashion or PR game.
As fans we seem to have become used to treating stars like race horses and live out our vicarious dreams and expectations of them. We should accept star has a life and mind of their own and they are not commodities to work as per our demands and expectations of them.
I do feel HR was the only complete package and had potential to be biggest star ever if he did more films or took less breaks or did better PR. He could have probably beaten AB Sr too in long run. But his choice if he is secure as he is and is not too ambitious.
Overtake the Khans in what? One khan delivered LSC and is mourning, the other one took ten years to deliver a proper hit, and the third one doing Humpty Dumpty with c grader big boss stars, Hrithik can overtake them but the bait is too high. Hrithik’s last three movies are super 30 m, War and VV, nect two are biggies, the man is just doing what a superstar does, overtaking anyone isn’t even a thought, Khans are superstars so is Hrithik, there’s no number game anymore otherwise VV would have been a hit and LSC would have been a hit too.
Hrithik's career trajectory has to be the most infuriating one for an HR fan (myself included)
From being the next big thing and giving memorable movies and roles, to just getting stuck as the second level superstar. He should have overtaken the Khans back in late 2000s, but just lost out because of laziness (or whatever the reason might be for not going more movies). 30 odd movies in a 23 years is just too less.
Same reason Ranbir/Ranveer/Shahid/etc. will never be able to get to the levels of Khans.

Or will he continue to play second fiddle as long as the Khans are reigning at the box office?
Personally, I think he's more of a complete package than any of the Khans.
Thoughts??
He is already powerful. He's also down-to-earth and humble. He's a talented dancer as well.
