It’s all perfectly balanced by KJo . In this film Shahrukh dumps Kajol for Rani and years later in K3G he dumps Rani for Kajol 😆 Problem solved.

If you look at Karan's filmography, his kind of obsession to bring Kajol and SRK together as a couple on screen is obvious.

That Kajol made Faana with Aamir (who plays a terrorist betraying Kajol's character's love) instead of playing Maya in KANK (who cheats on her husband because of her love for Dev) is as much revealing as the fact that Karan even wanted Ajay playing Maya's husband...

Just imagine what an effect THIS movie would have generated with Rani as Dev's wife, Kajol as Maya and Ajay as Rishi.

Already in KKHH, the hinting through Rani at Gauri was obvious as Gauri's life was at stake at Aryan's birth...

When was ajay meant to play abhisheks role…?it was always abhishek and karans initial draft had a slightly older wife (hence kajol) …that’s why rani keeps calling abhishek a child / childish in the movie

Anyone in their right mind would choose Aman over Rahul. Why would you go back to the man that never valued your love and chose a younger prettier girl over you? And who would chose a married man with a child over a single handsome guy? In real life, it’s time to move on and not stuck on the past. The story seemed weird.

Having said that it's movie with all the feels and its Kajol's movie more than anyone else

I don't know if srk deserved the best actor award but Kajol definitely did. She really did a good job in the movie

Salman's special appearance is iconic with that back shot so unexpected , now a days we are not surprised like this anymore . Special appearance ko promote kar kar ke maza hi kharab kar dete hai and salman and Kajol as a couple are underated they should have worked more

The songs ❤️

The marune saree and fake piano scene was done in so many tv shows the following decade with their own twist 😆

So many things became trendy , the platforms Kajol wore , her hairstyle , the beads she wore in her hair, the cool locket , Kajol's plain sarees and ofcourse the friendship bands

They maybe cringe today but for a 90s kid they are bittersweet memories 😆

Since the release of blockbuster 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai', people have been debating for more than 24 years whether Kajol's character, Anjali, should have chosen Salman Khan's Aman instead of Shah Rukh Khan's Rahul.

After decades, the lead actress from the Karan Johar directorial has shared her two bits on the matter. The 48-year-old actress said as Anjali, if given a choice, she would have actually gone with Aman instead of Rahul at the end of the film.

In an interview with Humans of Bombay, Kajol shared that on script level, she would have gone with Salman's character.

"On script level, maybe I would have gone with Salman's character, but in the film, if you watch the film, there is no choice about the ending, it has to be the way it is," the actress said.

The film, which also starred Rani Mukerji as Tina, tells the story of Rahul and Anjali, who was secretly in love with her best-friend during their college years but he had eyes only for Tina. In 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai', during college time, Kajol was shown as a short haired tomboy girl, while Tina was portrayed as a modern, feminine girl. Years later, Tina and Rahul's eight-year-old daughter tries to reunite her father with Anjali after her mother passes away.

Many have started to debate the transition of Kajol from a carefree, tomboy girl to a saree-wearing delicate lady who once used to be a pro at basketball, suddenly forgot how to play the game once she donned a saree.

"“My version of Anjali would never be wearing a saree. She would be wearing those track pants and fab, expensive sneakers with it and make that look good," Kajol said during the interview.

Meanwhile, in 2019, Johar had accepted and said that 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai' was the most politically incorrect film.

  • Anjali loved Rahul. Rahul loved Anjali. Aman loved Anjali. Anjali didn’t love Aman. Anjali ended up with the man she wanted, i.e. Rahul. Anjali chose Rahul. Rahul chose Anjali. Rahul and Anjali is now happy. Now why the hell should Aman marry someone who doesn’t love him?
  • Rahul and Anjali were friends. Rahul has a type because guess what? WE ALL DO. He likes feminine girls and he’s entitled to his preferences. I like men with facial hair. Shaven men can fcuk right off unless your name is Arjun Rampal. It’s not a crime to have a type. We can’t control who we’re attracted to. Most people need to feel physically attracted to a person before falling in love.
  • Anjali was a tomboy and hated being treated like a girl. She even told Rahul not to call her a girl as if the concept was abhorrent to her. She wanted to be treated like one of the boys and that’s how Rahul perceived her. Mind you, she didn’t even find him attractive before she realised her love for him. So how is it his fault if she fell for him? Both were very clear about being best friends, it’s not like either of them anticipated that their emotions will turn romantic. By the time Anjali realised her love, Rahul was already falling for Tina.
  • Y’all persecuting Rahul as if he intentionally broke Anjali’s heart and rejected her for not being feminine or sexy enough. Bruh, the guy didn’t even know she loved him.
  • Skipping to the 8-10 year leap. A whole decade (almost) had passed since Anjali and Rahul hadn’t seen each other. Has anyone heard of personal growth? Fun fact, you can change a lot, both mentally and physically in 10 years. Amazing right? I KNOW (😭). Anjali and Rahul weren’t the same people anymore. Rahul can no longer be classified as a playboy since the dude had remained single post his wife’s death for a whopping 8-10 years (Have no idea how old lil Anjali is so excuse the incorrect time frame). They reconnected and obviously Anjali still loves him. Rahul was happy to see her but things were awkward between them. Too much time had passed and it was blatantly obvious that they no longer share the same bond. Going back to being best friends was simply impossible. They had outgrown that relationship.
  • Rahul starts noticing Anjali in a more physical sense. She’s not the same person he remembers and he can no longer treat her the same. How is that a crime? Their relationship had evolved and was no longer the same. It’s not like Anjali went into the fitting room and came out in a sari and Rahul fell for her within minutes! (Quoted Reference by Smitten, 2023). Also how does anyone know that Aman didn’t fall for her for the same reason? There’s no proof that he loved her during her tomboy phase! He could’ve fell for her during her sari phase as well. So does that make him a horrible person for having a type?
  • Look me in the eye and tell me one thing. Would you fall for Hrithik Roshan if he came to you in his Main Prem Ki Dewaani Hoon avatar? You might if you find this look + his flared nostrils + his characteristics attractive. Me? HELL NO. I’m simply not attracted to him in this film and I’m entitled to have my preferences. Image
  • Now if he came as Kabir from War then hell yes, I’ll be attracted to him because he’s now my type. It’s honestly as simple as accepting that despite the fact that both characters were played by the same person, their physical appearance and characteristics make a difference in determining whether it appeals to you. Image

In conclusion

Please slap me for writing an essay over something as stupid as Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. Especially since Kajol chose Ajay of all people. 😂

THANK YOU🤗

I know people love criticising the movie. But it’s not as superficial as it’s made out to be.

We all know that Rahul didn’t like Tina just cuz of her looks, and she didn’t either. He was taken when she sang bhajan and they again run into each other at a temple. I think he saw her as a wife material. The issue with Anjali was not her grooming I feel, but it was more in the way she behaved. Call Rahul a flirt but he remained unmarried for 8 years after he lost his wife. Also his and Anjali’s relationship was there deep down. He did love her, and miss her but in different ways. When bus daughter says Anjali, he immediately blurts out sharma; and in ladki bani Anjani, they see younger versions of themselves. I think love comes in different forms and it just is.
