That's prove my point, Why would you think of Ranbir & Ranveer Shitt performances to competitors?

Why not Ajay Devgn for Drishyam 2 ? Hrithik Roshan for VV? Saif Ali Khan for VV?

even Shahid Kapoor (Jersey) and Rjkumar (Badhaai Do) had great performances.

Rajkummar even had 3 movies that were well received: Badhai Do, Hit: The First Case and Monica O My Darling.

He is a very fine actor, imo.

Other than Ajay all those movies were huge flops. And I didn’t think D2 was award worthy. I’d rather have Kartik win

Mrs Chatterjee Vs Norway is a heartbreaking and soul numbing tale of a courageous mother Debika played by a brave Rani Mukerji who shows us that even many years later , she’s simply the best !

It’s Rani’s most emotionally challenging, raw and uninhibited performance since Black . The way she jumps on the car in the first scene in an attempt to save her daughter implies the abandon with which she played Debika. Mind you, Debika is not a simple character at all. Definitely not black and white as some mahaan critics were saying . She’s naive, boisterous , loud and unapologetic of her questionable actions and is culturally distinct as a character. I was shocked to see Rani getting all those nuances so correct.I know women who are from Burdwan. Now Burdwan is a mid sized town away from Kolkata . People from there are mostly educated in Bengali medium schools and colleges and are very simple . They don’t have the street smartness of a person brought up in a big city like Kolkata or Delhi. Most of them are very rustic and very attached to their roots. The way Rani interpreted Debika’s character is very authentic. Debika is relentless, choleric and sometimes dumb . But that’s exactly how a mother of two from such a background would behave. She speaks in broken English and Hindi and screams in Bengali. In addition to all of this, she’s a reluctant immigrant who is still very desi and refuses to adapt . Again a very common trait found in a lot of people in America. Subjected to domestic violence in a foreign country, she suffers from depression and loneliness and has high anxiety issues which is brilliantly shown by the director in those scenes when her legs are trembling and hands are shaking.

All in all , Rani Mukerji ate and left no crumbs. I will debate for hours with the critics forcefully finding faults in her performance. What they don’t understand is the cultural background Debika comes from .They expected her to be more poised and posh when their children were taken away ,although they know nothing about the people of Burdwan and how they behave in real life .

As a film, It’s fast paced, filled with high octane drama and the never feels boring . Definitely should be watched on the big screen . Jim Sarbh pitched in a perfect performance and so did Anirban as the soulless monster.

Amit Trivedis music is a cherry on top.

I implore everyone to see the film , trust me , you will come out silent from the theatres for 5 minutes atleast .

THIS

How would you expect a mother to react in a new country where her children are being taken away..would she be subtle? and Mrs. Chatterjee was a very expressive woman who shows her emotions to the fullest..this was her panic and fear and rage..all emotions in full form when she was seeing her children being taken away from her..how else do they expect a person to be in this situation..so some who complained about subtle..it made 0 sense to me either..but thankfully those are very few..majority loved Rani!!
