For example: ShahRukh's last movies (from Fan to Zero) explored their potentiality but - for whatever reasons (would be interesting to explore) - failed to gain success in INDIA.

Pathaan is a success because his fans took it upon themselves to make it into one. And God bless him, he has a humungous and very loyal fandom.
Karthik or for that matter any guy from this gen has no such fandom to boast of, and hence they are heavily based on the other factors too including the boycott gang.
