“Showing women in such a way is not part of our Indian culture. If the censor team had done their job, this wouldn’t have happened in the first place. Forget about movies, look at OTT content, they show all sorts of nasty and offensive stuff. Everything is openly shown and no one is there to stop them,” Anant told.

He added, "Indian cinema should stop such nudity content on big and small screens. Showing things against our culture and tradition will definitely cause conflicts among the people.”

Nothing can top South movies and their weird obsession with zooming the camera on heroine's navel 🤢 . Can this guy point out all those nudity and misogynist stuffs south movies show? Harassing and stalking girl in name of love is common in those movies. Are these part of our culture? Stop bringing the bullshit rant of culture into everything when you yourself can't follow those.

Watched a clip from Natu Natu song today. Why did the camera keep zooming in on that white woman's cleavage?

It's just easy to target bollywood nowadays for everything. Starting from global warming to getting your zipper stuck while you are having a strong urge to pee.

If people are uncomfortable with or dislike sexuality, that is their prerogative. They have the right and freedom to dislike what they dislike. They have the right and freedom to criticize what they dislike.

But I hope people educate themselves before spewing nonsense about "Indian culture." Once upon a time, India was very sex-positive. Indian art and culture have a rich history of erotica. Courtesans and sex work (across all genders) have been documented in Indian history and literature. Even religious mythology has many subplots about sex and lust. There are even erotic temples like Khajuraho. Besharam Rang is tame compared to some of the erotic art of Indian history.

It was the British who brought the puritanical views of shame and taboo around sex. Colonizers used India's openness to sex and nudity as an excuse to deem us "uncivilized" and "savages." It is kind of sad that our brains are so colonized that we reject elements of our culture and history as bad.

Trash and criticize Besharam rang all you want because it doesn't suit your tastes. But your opinion is your own. Don't drag Indian culture into it - because culture is varied and diverse, plus history says otherwise. To give him some credit at least he didn't rant about orange.
