What's the point of success if you have no work life balance. I wonder if his family is cool with such a maniac.

His boasting about how he is calling out industry about hindi films floppinf reminds me of Sajid before humshakals.

Barring Cirkus he hasn't seen failure cos even dilwale made money overseas as the forum reminds us.

But man needs to shut up and Ranveer needs to stay away from him for a long time.

Well part of that 5 years World was shut down and no one was vacationing. I’ll say again I don’t see him as I see other directors. I think there are alot of Bollywood directors who think they are smarter than the fans. I don’t count him in that group

You know there is 2 kinds of arrogance

The sonam kapoor kind where I’ve lived in my ivory tower for so long that I’m oblivious to the way the rest of the world functions and am tone deaf to the easy access of resources and opportunities that I have …and attribute my success to my “talent” and “hard work” and how amazing I am….

Then there is the rohit shetty kind…where I have seen struggle, and I did work hard to get to where I am, but now I’m at the point where I think I can take it easy, and take people for granted and put in half assed efforts and it will be ok because I’m “set for life” and I have paid my dues …and I’ve done all the work and nothing can shake me now

Both kinds of arrogance end careers …

U are never “set for life” …there are constant ups and downs in everyone’s life and the only way to lead it is to put in honest and good work every single day…keep improving urself every single day …in short don’t take it easy when things seem to be going ur way…put in the effort no matter what

That is precisely why someone like amitabh who might be a senile snob is still sustaining….he’s 80 and can take it easy…but dosent ….people keep mentioning his discipline, showing up to set on time, doing rehearsals, learning his lines, he asks for work and never thinks he’s infalliable….(perhaps all this can be attributed to the lessons be learnt when he saw failures and rejection in the 90s) that’s what gives u lasting success….lasting hard work and a head above shoulders that is thankful and knows that the fame and fortune isn’t forever

Rohit Shetty is called the most hardworking directors in Bollywood today. Every actor he has ever worked, from Sid M, Ajay, Ranveer and others have time and again has said how much effort and hardwork he puts into an action sequence where a stunt choreographer is all throughout.

Arrogance backed up with hardwork and success is not arrogance, but belief and conviction in oneself.

One flop and people are already kicking down a director like Rohit who has given numerous commercial blockbusters.

Hard work to blow up vehicles and finish films yes

Hard work to make original content ppl enjoy , make jokes that land , work on script and screenplay and dialogues, have good technical work ( framing shots, colour correction) nope…not anymore
Hes not doing us a favour by finishing films and blowing up bigger vehicles …he lost his ability to tell a story

Everything passes off as confidence when one is successful but some failure and everything comes back at you.😆 That is just the way of world, I guess and all of us are part of it. All the good, bad and ugly.

Having said all of this, the clip posted here wasn't really reeking of arrogance. But yeah, as much as I have enjoyed Rohit shetty brand of movies, he does lack the originality factor and relied a lot on remakes.

Until Cirkus, Rohit Shetty was the most successful commercial mass entertainment filmmaker in Bollywood of recent times. He tapped into the audience well and reaped the rewards. There is nothing wrong with being proud of this accomplishment.

There are two places Rohit faltered.

- Criticizing his film industry peers for being out of touch. Once upon a time, it was considered that YRF and Yashraj had the pulse of the masses. Before that, Rajshri films were considered to know the market. It's a cycle. And most importantly, you should never break down others to build yourself up. It's bad karma.

- He presumed that the masses are neither intelligent nor evolving. Even the masses have their tastes and sensibilities. Even the masses evolve and want something fresh and innovative. In his arrogance Rohit forgot to keep the pulse on the audience.
