Deepika hasn't done anything for India to be proud of. She is not representing the country.

But...

The fact she was asked to do it is an endorsement of her global celebrity. That's the proof she hasn't gone anywhere as a star in Bollywood. The current aspirant to the throne, Alia, is someone the world doesn't know yet. Aishwarya and Priyanka are prob the other Bollywood celebs who are better known around the world than Deepika.

It's her hard work which got her to this point. Yes, she got lucky breaks with SRK and OSO, but there was no Godfather or sugar daddy helping her and guiding her. So she deserves the accolades.

And yeah, if it had been Alia, she would've been called the 2nd coming of Mahatma Gandhi by now. Or Vivekananda.

Problem is Deepika herself played hardball, which alienated many. She doesn't come from a film family or with powerful backing to have people groveling despite the steel-knuckle PR. So no one wants to give her the credit even when it's due.

But then, Bollywood was also nasty enough to ignore her when she was going through the Padmavat nonsense. So it's them too.

Sabka Alia pr hi rr karna h😭🤣🤣. Kat fans never miss a chance to drag Alia. You could have simply praised DP but no, We have to get Alia bashed, anyhow😝 otherwise our day would be ruined
