TKF is a very hard hitting film made more on the lines of a documentary style film making. An indie kind of film that had zero song dance kind of bollywood movie. The fact it became such a big hit shows that indie films that keep you hooked will do well.

RRR is not a great film but it has great songs, a bond of friendship and some very hard hitting emotions. The film is flawed in many ways but it keeps you hooked, plus there is great buzz because of Netflix in the US Europe market.

You can nominate both films

While I agree with your assessment of TKF (based on the reviews I have read), it does show Islam followers in bad light (rightly so) and that might not sit well the Oscars panel

No one is crying

There are thousands of movies with islamic extremists as the villain or a Muslim as a bad guy. The problem arises when such portrayals are exaggerated and start impacting the real lives of normal Muslims

And many Liberals have issues with ALL those movies. So much so that, even in Hollywood or US TV, there is an unwritten rule that if you make movies on terrorists, you should mandatorily show a 'good Muslim' character, even forcefully. Which is ridiculous.

And what exaggeration? beheadings by ISIS are not exaggerated. Bombings by Al-Qaida are not exaggerated. The kidnapping of schoolgirls by Boko Haram isn't exaggerated. The stoning of women in Islamic countries still happens. Kahe ki exaggeration? If showing the truth impacts the lives of common Muslims, then why not gang up on those supporting extremist thoughts? Why blame others???????
