She's taking a dig at Ranveer for being nice to his wife, whereas her own son had been caught shouting at his gf at the stadium, kicking her dupatta, and stepping on her dupatta again on her wedding day.

Ok..read this whole interview and something is problematic..why hold the son responsible for disputes rather than introspecting?

Why should a mom or wife pressurize a guy into choosing sides? One is someone who fulfilled responsibility of taking care of him till date and another is the one whose further life is connected to him..how is a guy supposed to balance between that every single time? Rather MIL and DIL should balance out their expectations too. Why stress out the guy..besides choosing between being a Mamma's boy or Joru ka Gulam he has to live his life and think about his own well being too.

Only then he would have that energy and drive to take care of his family including parents in old age

What she said about the balance thing that I totally agree with. I have seen it in my own family too. My father equally loves and respects both my mother and grandmother. He listens to both of them patiently, and never disrespects or disregards one because of the other, this kind of balance is important to keep a healthy environment in a joint family IMO.

Agree. I didn't have kids just so that they could look after me in my old age. I'm fully prepared for the fact that they may not want to/cannot take on this responsibility and I will make arrangements to this end for myself.

This is another extreme..it's not about authority, transaction or asking anything back in return..it's about being together as a unit..a family..

It's not like parents want to live with or stay connected to their child only with the expectation that they would be taken care of. Rather it's coz of attachment, feeling of belonging together. When they r settled for work far away in another city it's not like parents cling to them..but in the same place, same city u stay connected to someone ur own. We all need family n friends. And many a times youngsters benefit from the wisdom n guidance from elders. We wouldn't even leave a friend or a stranger in need if we r in a position to help..phir aisa kaise ho sakta hai ki apne khud ke Maa baap ki care na kare? We aren't obliged, but we can't be inhuman or irresponsible

This is why you should be open to marrying again..no harm there..it balances you..i feel she is the one who needs the most balance right now..many manage it beautifully but neetu just does not seem the sort..she will soon become obsessed with her son and his marriage and it gets unhealthy..I hope she finds someone, gets married again and lives her own life..i don't see her as someone who can keep herself busy with work..she has hardly worked enough all these years and as much she likes to blame it on rishi, i feel it was her own will..she doesn't seem too passionate about acting and thats not a 9-5 job which can keep you busy..you really have to invest..

Kahlil Gibran - 1883-1931

And a woman who held a babe against her bosom said, Speak to us of Children.
And he said:
Your children are not your children.
They are the sons and daughters of Life’s longing for itself.
They come through you but not from you,
And though they are with you yet they belong not to you.

You may give them your love but not your thoughts,
For they have their own thoughts.
You may house their bodies but not their souls,
For their souls dwell in the house of tomorrow, which you cannot visit, not even in your dreams.
You may strive to be like them, but seek not to make them like you.
For life goes not backward nor tarries with yesterday.
You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth.
The archer sees the mark upon the path of the infinite, and He bends you with His might that His arrows may go swift and far.
Let your bending in the archer’s hand be for gladness;
For even as He loves the arrow that flies, so He loves also the bow that is stable.
