What’s funny is that Anupama didn’t even use the word flop. She said “underperformed.” Varun was the one who said only two flops, and then went on to say that even SD3 made money for the producers. For the longest time his PR called all of his movies that weren’t hits as successes because technically they weren’t outright flops. That’s why it was claimed that he had a perfect record, and his streak of “successes” was actually compared to Rajesh Khanna. Dang his PR worked really hard. I think October and Sui Dhaga changed the PR narrative and then Street Dancer3 and Kalank just made things worse.

manifestation is usually used in a positive context Like u manifest the job u want, the outcome u want, the life u want …because the idea is if u fully want a positive outcome and don’t entertain any self doubt or negative thoughts and work towards it …it will work work out in ur favour …u attract good things coz u think good …

Whereas , I think he means he allowed himself to have doubt about the movies outcome, therefore manifesting the opposite of what he actually wanted …he thinks he may have attracted negativity because he entertained those doubts and had a fear in his mind abt the film

Hmm that makes sense, in a he’s “superstitious” sort of way. I don’t know if you’ve seen the video but when Kiara was talking about being called lucky for her movies Varun stopped her from talking about being lucky for JJJ and started hitting the wooden armchair. He just didn’t want her to jinx it I guess.

At the 8 minute mark Anupama asks him about box office record. She mentions how in recent years his movies underperformed and he says that only two of his movies were flops, Kalank and Street Dancer3 (I think a few have but OK😆). Then he pulls a BOI/Gangu trick and makes sure to mention that SD producers made good money off of that movie. That’s when he says that it sounds bizarre but while making those movies he knew they wouldn’t work and he thinks he manifested his own flops. I imagine a lot of actors get a feeling that movie isn’t working the way it should either during production or afterwards. But I’m not sure why he says he manifested it? Is he just saying things for the sake of sounding deep or smart? Or is this his own insecurity at play here where he’s looking for some inexplicable answers to why his movies flopped?

Our minds are very powerful. Sometimes, when you believe something won't work out, you subconsciously do things to sabotage yourself. It's possible he didn't believe in the script so subconsciously did not put in his best effort. Like he knew he could've delivered a line properly if he practiced but thought "what's the point? this will flop anyway"

Maybe wanted to say that him being negative about them while making got manifested..more like a jinx or something but couldn't articulate it. He was bragging about his success ratio and was putting down Ranbir n Ranveer a few years ago and soon after his downfall began so maybe he thinks he jinxed his success.

I also want to manifest my own flops but first I need to a nepo kid and gets films like you
