One of the reasons the budget went so high is because every player who told their story and authorized to be portrayed was paid for their story, and rightfully so. They were part of the championship team. I don’t know how much Kapil Dev was paid but the others I think got paid 2-3 crores each. It was a big movie shot in real locations and handling the logistics of those I’m sure cost a lot of money too.

I have read this several times about different movies that kept getting delayed. What interest are they talking about? The producers were Reliance and Nadiadwala. I’m assuming they budget was out of their capital? No?

It's doing well on OTT..specially kids r loving it. They have just heard about the 83 win and seeing it on screen feels surreal..more so coz there's no video of that famous knock of Kapil..

Wish they had released it directly on OTT instead of waiting for theatrical release

I am not sure anybody spends out of capital fully, also payments to vendors etc based on when returns come which will be under contract and then will get inflated with delay

it is a decent movie so will work on OTT

but OTT success is very difficult to guage unless you are trending hugely worldwide and break new barriers

it was marketed badly, like a huge large scale spectacle and not an intimate human drama

also the uneccessary masala added to a true story (war being stopped etc) irked audience, same with prithvi raj too, don't add your politics to history and twist the truth.

audience is smart and not showing any bias in rejecting this.

if you want to fictionalise dont call it reality but what rajamouli does, inspired heavily by mythology but all fictional

Production houses don't invest in movies from capital, they usually raise money from a single bank or a consortium. Even if they somehow had the free cash, often it is better to mix equity and debt in any project. And these loans are usually in sync with the original release date, which for many of these films was two years ago.

Lol only 9% occupancy and morning shows got cancelled due to no audience.Even 100 crores seems to be far off now.Oversees it has collected only 3 crores. This film will turn out to be a big disaster now😆

I feel they all take loans in one way or other and they have to repay. There are so many investments withdrawn or done to make a movie. So in delay they do need to pay interest for the capital. It will be in agreement. No one forseen covid and close of business due to that. So they are bond to the agreement and do need to pay the amounts.

For eg., You remember, long back people use to say producers take money from underworld and couldnot pay dues and bankrupt. Underworld call themselves as sponsors. It means PH took money from them with a bond of repaying with huge interest. PH has to pay interest based on agreement and delay increased the interests.

One question bugs me whenever I read about 83 movie flop. Did anyone claim what is the lose it faced?

Why I am asking because I never heard the lose of 83. Either they are hiding amount with due rest of players not to tell how much PH lost money as people rejected movie on World Cup or 83 covered all money due to digital rights, collections and satellite rights but for tax evasion PH is hiding it as the movie already got the flop tag.

Can anyone tell me how much is the lose?
